EPCOT - The Land

The Land is one of the largest pavilions in EPCOT. It encompasses several acres more than the others once you include the green houses and the new Soarin' show building. The Land includes a boat ride, food court, revolving restaurant, and soon a hang gliding experience, not to mention a motion picture theater.

The centerpiece of this Pavilion is the Living with the Land boat ride. You get to ride through the working green houses and learn about the crops being grown here. You also get an overview of agricultural topics.

In 2005 Soarin' opened which is a hang gliding experience. This attraction film is an exact clone of the Disney's California Adventure attraction that opened in 2001. You are lifted into position in the middle of an Imax type film to experience this incredible attraction as you soar over the Golden State.

Also in the Land is The Circle of Life movie. It features some of your favorite Lion King friends in a film that explores man's relationship with the land.

Geek's Thoughts & Suggestions

Do not wait in long lines for the boat ride. If you come back latter odds are you will be able to just walk on or have a minimal wait.

The intro sequence to the Lion King Environmental show is really good (it's the Circle of Life with real animals used), but the rest of the show is geared towards young children and it is a hit with that audience.

A great way to experience the Land is the walking tour of the garden areas, the Behind the Seeds Tour. This is a much more detailed tour of the growing areas than you get from the boat ride, so if you liked the boat ride you will love this tour. And as far as Disney's tours go its relatively inexpensive (originally it was free not there is a small charge)

If you see a large thunderstorm approaching and want a place to hide out for a couple hours, the Land is your pavilion. It has shows, a boat ride, and a food court all under one roof to entertain you and keep you dry.
