New Orleans Square |
New Orleans Square hosts two classic (and might I say among the best) Disney attractions. They Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. Pirates ranks up there as one of the best Disney attractions of all time on my list. I think it combines all of what is unique and interesting with Disney attractions. It has a compelling story, a great soundtrack, a thrilling ride, a visually detailed experience, a unique theme, and a little bit of humor. I also think that the Disneyland version is better than the WDW version. It is longer and in my opinion more detailed. In May 2006 Pirates was enhanced with new special effects and a couple new Pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow now appears in three scenes and Barbosa appears on the Wicked Wench. Davy Jones also makes an appearance. Overall the new additions were a great plus for the attraction. The new lighting, sound system, and score elements are great!! Also NOS plays host to the center viewing location for Fantasmic (check out our Fantasmic page for more information on this not to be missed show).

Geek's Suggestions |
The key to getting on Pirates without a long
wait is timing. The line varies in size throughout the
day and night. I have been by in the middle of the afternoon and
there has been a 1 boat wait and other times it is a one hour wait.
The line really moves quickly, most of the time. I would say to
just keep checking until the wait gets to something you don't mind
(for me that is less than 5 minutes). The same holds true for the
Haunted Mansion, timing is everything. Another good time to try
to get on these attractions is during a Fantasmic show… especially
if you are waiting for a latter show, or have already seen an earlier
one. DO NOT miss Fantasmic if you have not seen it though… |
