Trip Log:
Started off the day a bit late due to the cold rain.
Walked around the resort a while to see what's going
on. Not too much in the rain. The Sunset savanna appeared
closed and we saw a bulldozer in it. Headed out to EPCOT
first. Walked over to the Living Seas, which has become
a bigger dump than before. Next headed to Journey Into
Your Imagination, still not as good as the original,
but better than the past few versions. Walked through
Innoventions and MouseGear. Then out to the International
Gateway and the boat to the Yacht Club. Beaches and
Cream for Lunch and bussed back to our resort. Rested
in the room and let it rain for a while. Headed over
to Animal Kingdom around 3:00pm and out to the Safari,
no line since it was still raining a bit. Ended up waiting
for Jamin' in the Jungle right in the middle of Harambe,
there was a brief break in the clouds. Headed out to
Asia after the parade and did the Jungle Trek. The tigers
were fairly active due to the cool dampness and nightfall
coming. After Asia exited the park and headed for the
bus station and and bussed over to the TTC and took
the Ferry over to the Magic Kingdom. Went to Buzz Lightyear,
no line, yeah!! We were planning on eating some Carmel
corn, but Sleepy Hollow stopped selling is a few weeks
ago they said. We headed back to the Lodge after the
disappointmend and grabbed a quick dinner at Mara. Back
to the room to call it quits
and dry out.
Thoughts & Observations:
- This was the worst day, weather wise, of the trip. The temps
dropped to the 60s and it rained most of the day. We saw this
and decided to explore the Lodge for a while, and then left for
lunch.
- EPCOT was like a ghost town, with just quick glimpses of Yellow
everywhere. It was nice to walk around, but I wish it was a few
degrees warmer.
- The Living Seas needs alot of help. It seems extremely run down
and quite boring. It used to be one of our favorite places. They
even skipped the preshow and instead the CM entertained us in
the waiting area by asking where people were from. Still no seacabs,
which really shortchanges the place.
- The new Innoventions area, the test labs were really fun and
had a good size crowd.
- Beaches and Cream for lunch was busy as usual, but well worth
the wait.
- Bussed back to AKL, via the AK. Always fun to transfer busses,
but it was better than the rain.
- It was almost 3:00 and we saw on the weather channel that the
clouds were breaking up, it was still raining rather hard outside,
but we ventured over to AK to see what it was like in the rain.
- There were quite a few people leaving the park, we had to travel
upstream the whole way. Walked onto the safari with no wait at
all and had only a partially filled truck. The animals were fairly
active, but most appeared ready to head in and were just killing
time.
- After the ride the rain let up and we decided to wait and see
if the parade would go, and it did. It was awesome to have virtually
no one around and see it.
- The tigers were extremely active, which was nice.
- Afterwards a couple people had a graving for Carmel Corn, and
we knew the best was at Sleepy Hollow at the Magic Kingdom. AK
was closing so we bussed to the MK and took the ferry(which only
2 other people were on)to the park. It started to drizzle again,
so we split up and went to Buzz and to get the carmel corn.
- We found out they stopped selling carmel corn their a few weeks
ago, so we were bummed, but Buzz was great.
- So we headed back to AKL for dinner. No one was in the mood
for a big meal so we ate at Mara. Several people got the shrimp
and said it was great, I stayed with the tried and true chicken
fingers, which were fine. The interesting thing was that we each
got a ton of french fries, no skimping here... also I noticed
it was 4 strips, compared to the parks which were only 3... this
happened on two different trips, so I think its the way things
are.. which is cool.
