Walt Disney World Day 1 Report

Wednesday, December 6, 2002

Trip Log:
Arrived @ MCO 5:30am. Towncar to AKL. Started @ AKL, Bus to AK, Walked to Africa and road safari, walked trail, over to Camp Minnie Mickey for Festival of the Lion King, over to Asia to walk the trek and watch Wonders of Flight. Next up out to Dinoland for a quick lunch then back to AKL for a nap…

Bus to MK. Went on Buzz, walked through Fantasyland over to Frontierland and then through Adventureland. Hopped on Jungle Cruise then down Main Street to catch the Tree Lighting then out to the Busses and back to AKL for dinner and to call it quits.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • We arrived on a dark and rainy Friday morning. I should actually say overcast and misty, it was not a heavy rain, just enough to annoy.
  • Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we checked our bags, ate breakfast at Mara and headed to the Animal Kingdom for the day.
  • The crowds at AK were not bad. As the morning went on the number of people picked up a bit, but still no waits worth mentioning.
  • The Magic Kingdom had a lot of people around, but still not too bad. We walked on Buzz Lightyear and Jungle Cruise.
  • They had quite a bit of lighting and other camera equipment prepositioned for a taping of the Christmas parade to be aired Christmas morning. The taping took place Saturday (we avoid the MK to stay away from the mob scene, it was packed)
