Trip Log:

Ate breakfast in the Chronos Club then boarded at bus to Epcot.  Arrived just as the rope drop was going on.  Walked onto Soarin’ and Living with the Land then stopped by the Seas with Nemo and Friends.   Cut through Project Tomorrow to reach Connections and visit with some friends.   Strolled out to World Showcase and around to the American Adventure.   Caught a performance by the Voices of Liberty then continued on to the International Gateway.  Boarded the Skyliner to Riviera and transferred to a bus to reach Disney Springs.  Grabbed lunch at Chicken Guy and took a look around then caught a bus to the Polynesian Village Resort.  Met some friends there and visited a bit.  Decided to take the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom to get a look at the construction work for the new DVC tower and Grand Floridian Renovations.  Then caught a boat back to the Polynesian to rejoin the group.  We walked over to the TTC and boarded a Monorail to Epcot.   Walked through World Celebration and out to Canada to catch a performance on the Mill Stage.  Next stop France for a snack then continued on around to Germany for another snack.  Finished the World Showcase loop and then spent some time in World Discovery before ending up walking onto Spaceship Earth.  Watched the Beacon of Magic for a while then hiked out to find a spot for Epcot Forever.  After the show joined the masses exiting the park.  Caught a bus back to Coronado Springs to call it a night.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • Started my day with breakfast in the Chronos Club.  Today there were a couple of changes to the offerings.   Bacon instead of sausage, a different type of eggs and chocolate chip muffins replacing one of the other types.   Still no waffles, pancakes, French toast.. but a couple changes.
  • We were not in a hurry to get anywhere but arrived at Epcot just before rope drop.  We had just walked through the Resort Early Entry as they let the main rope drop group go (about 5 minutes before posted opening).  So we stopped and watched the mass rush into the park and then walked at a nice pace in the uncrowded walkway behind them.
  • Since I had no real agenda we took the opportunity to walk right onto Soarin’ followed by Living with the Land then the Seas with Nemo and Friends.  Its always a pleasure to walk around when you can go on attractions with no waits.
  • Living with the Land looked good with several additions for the Flower & Garden Festival as well as some hidden/not so hidden attraction references.  I think its great to see them tweaking this attraction to the season.
  • Stopped by the American Adventure for a performance by the Voices of Liberty. They were great as always but it still seems odd to see them not in their period costumes inside the building.
  • We decided to go to Disney Springs for lunch while strolling through World Showcase.  Opted to take a creative route to get there that minimized steps so boarded the Skyliner at the International Gateway and disembarked at the Riviera Resort. There we boarded a bus to  Disney Springs.   We still enjoy riding the Skyliner. It is usually a relaxing flight.  I still wish they had more gondolas without wraps or they would alter the wraps to enhance the view for those onboard.
  • For lunch we had some points and a birthday redemption to use for Chicken Guy!  This was my first time using the app and it was a bit of a pain.  First off to redeem points once you click redeem nothing happened.. the points left but the redemption did not show up. It took several minutes then it showed up and we could use it.  The system should tell you this. It was frustrating thinking we lost the points or missed a step.    Also I found it very annoying they tried to add a substantial tip to a mobile order.  For example the one person that redeemed their birthday reward had a free order and they tried to add a $2 tip to it.   Also interesting they never told us the order was ready.  Luckily one member of the group went into get some ice and saw the orders were ready.
  • After lunch took a quick look around Disney Springs but no one was in the shopping mood.  Most of the group went back to the room and I headed to the Polynesian to visit with some friends and check out the construction.
  • Took a look at the Disney Vacation Club tower construction from the monorail, a boat, and the shore.  The building is interesting in that it is being assembled from pre-cast components.   The size and location of the tower looks out of place to me.  This large building on one side and then the Grand Floridian on the other side of the Wedding pavilion really looks bad.  It will be interesting to see how the finished tower looks. I would have much rather preferred a series of smaller buildings to blend in with the existing resort.
  • Returned to Epcot for the evening. The park was still not crowded and the weather was great to just walk around and enjoy the park. It felt much more like a December day than an April day weather wise.
  • Visited Spaceship Earth and it is really in need of some TLC inside.  I would really like to see a big renovation and update to the attraction, but based on previous attempts and other recent WDI projects I am torn between suffering the current state or possibly seeing an even worse version after renovation.
  • This evening after Epcot forever the bus seemed slow going.  I do miss being able to walk back to the room and have no wait at all.
