Walt Disney World Overview

May 11-18, 2010

We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside this time around. This trip we were took advantage of an email offer free Disney Quickservice Dining plan which we upgraded to the regular Dining Plan.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • We had an email deal of free quick service dining, which we were able to upgrade to the regular dining plan by paying the difference when we booked. This basically swapped out a quickservice meal for a table service meal every day which made a lot of sense to us since we really enjoy the table service restaurants.

  • Since we needed to buy a Magic Your Way Pass for the 8 days to qualify for the dinning plan we did, but then I went to gues relations and applied that toward a Premier Pass. This is the new Annual Pass that is good at all parks in Anaheim and Orlando.

  • Overall the week was great weather. We had some scattered storms in the late afternoon the last two full days of the trip (Sunday and Monday) but other than that it was mild. As the week went on the heat increased but nothing compared to what is coming in the next few weeks as summer approaches.

  • The crowds were light on the weekdays and on the weekend the parks were busy, but I would say average summer busy, not holiday or insane crowds by any stretch of the imagination.

  • One evening (the 3rd night) when we got back to the room there was a typed letter on the bed nearest the door. We thought this odd so read it right away. It was informing us that a black bear was spotted and that they were working to locate it. It gave a security number to call if you spotted it. I thought this was great that they notified everyone. I thought there should have been a sign at the bus stop or the lobby or something too, since that is your first contact when returning from the park.. I was also disappointed that there was no follow-up. We stayed several nights after and never heard another peep about the bear.
