Trip Log:

Went up to the food court here at Port Orleans French Quarter for breakfast and then off to the Animal Kingdom.  Grabbed a Fastpass for the Safari and went to see the Nemo musical.   After the show grabbed a bite to eat at the Restaurantosourus and then headed for Asia to watch the Flights of Wonder show.  After the show some grabbed a quick bite at Yak and Yeti and then we went through the Jungle Trek.  After our trek we hiked over to Africa and went for a ride on the Safari.   Once back we headed for the front of the park and a bus over to the Studios.  Hiked out to the Lights, Motors, Action show and then spent some time roaming the park before the 6:00pm Harlem Gospel Choir performance.    After the show took some pictures around Hollywood Blvd then headed for the busses and back to Port Orleans.  Grabbed some dinner at the Riverside and then back to the room to call it an early evening.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • I went to see the Finding Nemo Musical to get some pictures, I had read that they lifted the photo restriction and as long as you did not use a flash you could take picture now. As I waited for the show the same announcement as before played saying no pictures or video recording. I then noticed several people taking pictures so I did too. It seems the policy has changed and they say no pictures but they no longer "run" after you unless you are taking flash pictures. Before if you pulled out a camera an usher would come speak to you right away, not they do not.

  • Yak and Yeti counter service location seemed fairly popular with a constant line and people waiting for tables. I did not eat anything there but the others who had a snack said it was pretty good but as usual a bit over priced.

  • Went through the Jungle Trek and the Safari thinking that on this cool winter day the animals may be a bit more active or at least visible and I was wrong on both counts.. guess they are adjusted to the Florida climate and decided to hide and stay warm?

  • We saw the Lights, Motors, Action show from the far side of the theater and low and from that angle you can appreciate the speed of the cars a lot more. I think I have seen the show a half dozen or so times now and each time it seems to drag a bit longer to me, I guess its because I am only interested in the action. The jokes and filler as they are setting up the stunts just does not draw or keep my interest anymore.

  • The Toy Story Mania construction is moving along. Mickey Ave is blocked off right past the Narnia set on one side and right past the backlot entrance on the other. It looks like a new set of facades are going up across from the main building, this should make the area more immersive. The building itself looks like a giant hanger/sound stage still, which I guess it has to in order to fit with the theme of the studios, so it should be interesting to see what happens to the rest of Mickey Ave as its transformed into Pixar Place. From what I have seen so far though the attraction facade at California Adventure is much more detailed and interesting, but neither is done yet so it will be interesting to watch this evolve.

  • We hung around the studios and watched the Harlem Gospel Choir perform (they were at the Theater of the Stars where Beauty and the Beast is performed during the day). I thought this was a nice holiday offering and some great live entertainment.

  • We ended up calling it an early evening since tomorrow we have a 7:30am tee time at Lake Buena Vista and add to that a cold front is moving through and today the temps dropped 10-20 degrees from yesterday and tomorrow will be even colder and for us Southern Californians it was really cold, especially while waiting for the Choir we were very cold (I would guess it was in the low 60s to upper 50s). And then after dinner it was extremely chilly for us (actually down right cold for my thin Southern California blood) as we road the boat from the Riverside back to the French Quarter.
