Trip Log:
Started off the morning heading for breakfast here at the French Quarter. After grabbing a bite it was off to EPCOT. Spent some time in Innoventions West and then stopped by the Land. Grabbed a Fastpass for Soarin’ and rode the Living with the Land. After our boat trip stopped by the Living Seas to see Nemo and Friends. After wandering around for a while headed over to Journey into Imagination. Took a couple pictures with Figment afterwards and then back to Innoventions to see the EPCOT 25 exhibit. Strolled out to World Showcase and caught the end of an Off Kilter set then off to Canada for lunch at Le Cellier. After lunch continued on through the UK and out the International Gateway. Hopped a boat over to the Boardwalk. Walked around the lobby a bit and then grabbed a bus over to Downtown Disney. Headed out to Cirque first to pick up our tickets and then walked through the West side, Pleasure Island and over to the Marketplace. Stopped for an ice cream break at McDs and then walked around the Marketplace a bit more. Wandered back through Pleasure Island and the West side and ended up at Cirque just in time to line up and go in. After the show walked back through the West Side, Pleasure Island and spent some time roaming the Marketplace before grabbing a bus back to Port Orleans to call it a night.
Thoughts & Observations:
- While at EPCOT stopped by the 25th Anniversary exhibit which is in the Innoventions West building (its the theater that a long time ago housed the Imagineering exhibit and then was used for various events over the years). I really enjoyed this exhibit. It featured a poster/display for each attraction/pavilion including a description, concept art, construction picture, and then some other pictures. Also in the room was a video loop, opening day costumes, programs, and more. I wish they would publicize this exhibit a bit more, I stopped by a couple times over and never saw more than a couple people in there at once.
- While in the Living Seas (I still do not like the name the Seas with Nemo and Friends) we noticed the dolphins playing and upon further review noticed the legs of many people in the water. It was one of the dolphin encounter tours going on first time I had seen that. It was kind of interesting to watch, even though I had no idea what was being said or done above the waterline.
- We managed to catch Figment for a picture and we were able to walk through his spot. What a great little photo spot.
- We could not get into Le Cellier for dinner, even though I called about six months before we headed down so we were stuck with a late lunch. I thought lunch was good, but I wish you could order the dinner size steaks... (I thought you used to be able to do this).
- I went to see the Cirque du Soleil, La Nouba show. Overall I enjoyed the show, but I still thought it was expensive. The seats we had were about $85 each, that's almost a dollar a minute, its about a 90 minute show. I thought it moved along and had some great performers. I was not a big fan of the music, but I guess it worked. The theater itself was impressive. We were show center but high (about 5 rows from the back I think). Looking around it looked like the view would be good from any of the seats. On first impression the area did not seem that large but when you think of the number of people and size of the stage area it is a large place. The equipment that would come in for each performance whether it was from below, above, or the side was great to watch, from a technical perspective. I wish they would allow for some photography inside, maybe at the beginning or end I do not see what that would hurt.. but they had a strictly enforced no photograph/video rule once inside.
- The bus back to the Resort took a long time, due to the route... it went to every stop at the Riverside first then finally to the French Quarter, next time we should take the boat.
