Trip Log:
Started off the morning a bit later than usual since we had to finish packing, then went to breakfast at Everything Pop and grabbed a cart for the luggage. Loaded our bags and dropped off the checked bags at the airline checkin location and the carryons at the luggage assistance desk then it was off to Animal Kingdom. We hiked out and grabbed a Fastpass for the Safari then walked through the Pangani Forest. To avoid the now steady drizzle we road the train out to Conservation Station and back. It was time to ride the Safari. After our adventure we walked by the Tree of Life on our way to Flame Tree BBQ and Dinoland for lunch. Once we had our fill it was back to the bus stop and we headed for the Transportation and Ticket Center where we boarded the Ferry to the Magic Kingdom. We wandered down Main Street taking pictures of the Family Fun Parade and then turned into Tomorrowland for one last spin on Buzz. Grabbed a Funnel Cake over at Sleepy Hollow and did a look through the Castle and Fantasyland before returning to Liberty Square. Walked back through the hub and over to Tomorrowland again to see what was going on before cutting by the noodle station and back down Main Street. We exited the park and headed for the Pop Century bus stop. We road back to the Resort, got our bags out of storage and changed clothes. Ate a quick snack then went out to wait for the Magical Express bus. While there a CM approached us and asked us to wait to board the bus. We did and she came back and ask us to turn around and they brought a stretched limo up to take us to the airport instead of the bus… so it was off to the airport in style. Once we arrived we went through security and waited for our flight back to LAX to close out this WDW trip.
Thoughts & Observations:
- We spent the morning packing up and checking out of the room. We checked our baggage usng the Airline Checkin at the Resort which went smoothly and fairly effeciently. We had our boarding passes and were rid of our bags almost 10 hours before our flight (what could be better). We then checked our carryons (and a change of clothes) with luggage assistance and were off to the parks..
- This was the first day it threatened to rain. Yesterday it did for a bit but today was supposed to be on and off all day long (not bad for 9 days in central Florida to only get a little drizzle twice).
- Our first park of the day was Animal Kingdom and the crowds were extremely light. Not sure if it was do to the drizzle and threat of rain or just because, but it was nice either way. We hung out till lunch time and grabbed some lunch then headed for the Magic Kingdom.
- It looked as if they were going to test the Comedy Club in Tomorrowland, there were several CMs setting up chains and we kept checking back.. but the entire time we were in the park (which was only a couple hours) they spent setting up and moving the queue chains around. We talked to the CM and they hinted there might be but gave no real answer or anything. Finally we gave up and had to head for the bus back to Pop Century to catch our Magical Express Bus. Guess this will wait till next trip (which from what I am reading online might actually mean the one after that with the delay in the opening date).
- While we were waiting for the Magical Express bus to arrive a Cast Member came out and started talking to us. The bus showed up and she asked us to wait and be the last ones on. We thought this was odd, but had no reason to doubt her so we did. As the bus was just about loaded she asked us to turn around and there was a stretched limo there and she said that would be our ride to the airport. As part of the Year of a Million Dreams they are randomly selecting Magical Express guests and giving them a limo ride instead.. nice plus (much better for us than the 2 sets of Studios Fastpasses we won).
- So all in all we managed to win three "dreams" each this trip... which considering we never win anything and even less when it comes to Disney (before this I think the best I won was a poster or something during a Disneyland promotion) I guess the Year of a Million Dreams was a good promotion.
- One last interesting tid-bit... as we were waiting to go through security behind us in line (well 20 people or so behind us) I noticed Joe Rhode (well first his rather large earing caught my eye. For those who do not know he was the lead Imagineer for Animal Kingdom (you may have seen him on all the Travel Channel Specials). He was on our flight back to LA (we saw him up in First Class). There were also several other Disney people on the plane, not sure who they were but overheard several conversations and saw Disney IDs, laptops, etc...
