Walt Disney World Day 7 Report

May 10, 2005

Trip Log:

Started off the day with no alarm, but still up around 7ish. Went to Everything Pop for breakfast and then off to our first park of the day. Our goal was all four in one day.. We started off heading for Animal Kingdom on a bus around 8:50am. Arrived at the park just after opening and headed out for Fastpasses for the Safari. Met up with our group and meandered through Pangani Forest and then around the village waiting for our Fastpass time of 10:05. Made our round trip and then went over to Asia for the jungle trek before going back toward the park entrance. Made a detour for a pretzel stop then continued on and out to the buses. Next stop the Disney MGM Studios. After waiting nearly 20 minutes for the bus to arrive we boarded and were off. Half of us went ahead once in the park to grab Fastpasses for Lights Motors Action and the others met up with us at the Toy Story Pizza Place for lunch. With a full stomach it was time to go watch the stunt show and video tape it for myself. Once the show concluded we wandered down out of the park and took a Friendship launch over to the Swan/Dolphin and then hiked out to Fantasia Golf to play the fairways course. After our frustrating round we walked to the Boardwalk and strolled around, stopping for a refreshment break. Continued our walking tour with the Beach Club next, spending some time in the newly remodeled gift shop and then rested in the lobby a bit before heading down to the Yacht Club to see if anything was new, not really. Finally dinnertime arrived, 5:30 and we were off to our favorite restaurant, the Yachtsman Steakhouse. After our great meal we walked over to EPCOT. We bee lined to the American stage and arrive with 5 minutes to spare for the 7:00pm set from the Lovin’ Spoonful. Once their set concluded we walked around World Showcase Lagoon and caught the last two songs of the Off Kilter 7:30 set on our way to the front of the park. We exited and took the monorail to the TTC where we transferred to the Ferryboat to head to the Magic Kingdom. Once inside we hopped aboard the Railroad for a round trip journey, arriving back at Main Street with a couple minutes to spare before the 9pm SpectroMagic Parade. After the parade we waded down with the masses on Main Street, did a little shopping and queued up for the 10pm Wishes show. After the finale joined the herd and headed for the bus stop and the bus back to Pop Century to call it a night.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • We set out with the goal of visiting all four parks on our last day, no real reason except that we had something at each that we still had on our to see/to do list. We managed to accomplish this task plus fit in a round of mini-golf even. Found it kind of funny afterwards looking back on the day that we somehow managed to visit the parks from the newest to the oldest..

  • Not much happening at Animal Kingdom. Took a spin on the Safari and still no sign of the white rhinos.. too bad..

  • There was a long wait at the Studios entrance, not sure why. But once you got into the park it was not too bad.

  • We noticed there was a change in the Lights, Motors, Action starting times from last week. Guess they are still working out the schedule. The show itself was entertaining even on the second go around. There was a different AD, a less annoying one we thought. Still the show seemed to lag in a few spots, namely between scenes.. we understand that it takes a long time to set up for the complicated scenes, but seems that the filler material can be better..

  • Took the Friendship Launch over to the Swan/Dolphin to get to Fantasia mini-golf. We still get extremely impatient on these slow moving vessels.. seems they could be tweaked to go a bit faster.. or maybe some music or something to make the trip seem faster than the slow rumble it currently moves at...

  • The Fairways course was still extremely challenging and I played really poorly.. but oh well there is always next trip. Many of the sand traps and other hazards are being replaced with rocks and gravel, I am guessing for upkeep reasons, which is too bad. I really enjoyed the true miniature feel of it with the sand and water.

  • While waiting for dinner we had some time to kill so strolled around the Boardwalk. It was quite dead with not much going on and not even that many guests walking around either, kind of suprising. I think the workers working on the boardwalk rehab project out numbered the guests.

  • Dinner at the Yachtsman was great!! Well let me rephrase that, the food was great. The service was a bit under par compared to what we have had in the past. For example. I made my normally "odd" request of orange soda with dinner. Usually they say let me check and then come back with some. This time the waitress looked at me as if I was asking for poison or something and said no we don't serve Orange soda. I said this was my third visit in the last year and the other two times there was no problem getting any. I gave up and ordered a Coke instead. But this just
set the tone for the evening.

  • After dinner walked off some of what we ate at EPCOT. We stopped to watch the Lovin’ Spoonful perform at the American Gardens stage. They put on a good show and I never realized how many of their songs I had heard before (having not been born yet when they topped the charts I was unfamiliar with who they were all I knew was their big song was Do You Believe in Magic).

  • On our way out of the park, caught the last couple of songs from Off Kilter, and really found them entertaining too.. I somehow never quite seem to make the time to catch them performing a full set.. I think over the years I have caught most of the songs they sing, but never have made it through an entire set due to either having to leave to be somewhere or arriving after they have started..

  • The last park of the day was the Magic Kingdom. We watched SpectroMagic from the train station on Main Street. The parade was still good, but still lacking something compared to the Main Street Electrical Parade, I have never quite figured it out but my best guess is its the soundtrack that I don't like.

  • Since we were at the Magic Kingdom we stuck around for Wishes.. still don't know what it is with this show either, why Disneyland's Believe and now Disneyland's Remember shows beat it out in my book. Heck I think the old show at the Studios does too. Not quite sure what I don't like. Well not that I don't like, what I don't like as much as the others. Oh well, still a good show to watch overall.
