Trip Log:
Spent the early morning circling the Resort to take
some pictures and see what was going on. Then breakfast
at Everything Pop when everyone else woke up. Took the
bus over to Animal Kingdom. Headed to grab a Fastpass
for the Safari while half of the group went toward Asia.
We met up with them and went through the jungle Trek.
After roaming around Asia a bit we headed for the Flights
of Wonder show and then off to our Safari trip followed
by a walk through Pangani. Headed across the bridge
and parallel to the river by the Tree of Life on our
way over to Flame Tree BBQ and into Dinoland for lunch.
Caught Lucky going by then off to Camp Minnie Mickey
and Festival of the Lion King. Walk the three quarter
of a mile circle through Dinoland and by the Tarzan
show and around the new walkway by Everest to Asia and
back over the bridge and to the center of the park before
heading to the entrance and the bus back to Pop Century.
After taking a brief pit-stop it was off to EPCOT. Road
Spaceship Earth then visited Innoventions West. Grabbed
a Fastpass for Test Track while some road Mission Space.
Met up at the exit of Mission Space and walked through
the Butterfly area on our way to World Showcase. Strolled
past Mexico and Norway on our way to China. Some stopped
to eat, I stopped to get pictures of the Hong Kong Disneyland
Preview exhibit. Then we continued our tour around to
the American Adventure. Grabbed dinner at the Liberty
Inn and then went over to Japan while waiting for the
American Adventure show. Went back to see the show and
then continued on our tour of World Showcase, some hitched
a ride on the boat while I finished the loop walking.
We met up at the entrance to World Showcase and then
headed for Test Track to use our Fastpasses. After riding
we strolled through Future World on our way to park
exit and then to the bus back to Pop Century to call
it an early night.
Thoughts & Observations:
-
Started the day off with a leisurely trip to Animal Kingdom.
Pangani Forest was completely open, so not sure why the other
day it was blocked off.. kind of suprised not to see anyone
out on the family side.
-
Still no White Rhinos on the Safari.. I really wanted to see
the newborn but guess they are not out on the Savanna yet, either
that or I just have bad timing..
-
Lucky was an impressive piece of technology but the usefulness
seems weird.. the whole show routine just seemed weird. It basically
consisted of him coming out of the back gate and doing a loop
with some random tricks in between interacting with the Cast
Member and with a couple of selected guests. I really liked
the loud walking sound.. really makes it seem heavier than he
is. I found the movement to be extremely fluid and the range
of movement quite interesting. They just need to find a better
way to integrate him into a show I think.. guess he is just
a temporary visitor (only scheduled to be at Animal Kingdom
through July I believe. But definitely worth checking out.
-
Here is an interesting tidbit for you.. we wanted to get some
Expedition Everest shots before heading onto EPCOT for the rest
of the day. Our pedometer said it was 3/4 of a mile from the
bridge onto Discovery Island, out to Dinoland, around Everest,
out to Asia, and back to the bridge where we started.
- We spent the afternoon and evening at EPCOT. We took in the
rest of the Flower and Garden festival, not much new this year
that we could tell beyond the Butterfly exhibit. Also took in
the concert, the Lovin Spoonful were playing and they were pretty
good. I was surprised at some of their songs
- Stopped by China to see the Hong Kong Disneyland display and
it was really interesting. The size of the park seems small but
the detail looks substantial and the consideration of many of
the Chineese customs and culture seems to have been front and
center in this parks planning and construction. So it should be
interesting come September to read the reviews once the park opens
September 12th.
