Trip Log:
No wake up call today but still wide awake by 7:30am
and out to Everything Pop for Breakfast. After grabbing
a bite and the rest of our party joining us it was off
to EPCOT. Walked through Future World and over to the
Land. Road Soarin (posted 30 minute wait but really
closer to only 10). After our flight it was off to Living
with the Land and then over to Journey Into Imagination
before heading for the parks entrance and the monorail.
Road to the Transportation and Ticket Center where we
disembarked and took the ferry boat over to the Magic
Kingdom. Walked over to the Contemporary and ate lunch
at the Snack place. We finished lunch with still an
hour to spare before our Fishing trip so we roamed the
resort gift shops. Our two hour fishing excursion left
right on time and returned just after its two hours.
We hiked over to the Magic Kingdom and down Main Street
USA, heading for Buzz to grab a Fastpass. Wandered around
Tomorrowland and the Castle area while waiting for Cinderellabration.
Watched the show then over to ride Buzz followed by
the People Mover before it was time for dinner. We headed
back down Main Street and out of the park, to the bus
stops. Headed back to Pop Century for dinner. After
eating we decided a trip to Downtown Disney was in order.
Went through the shops, ate a bit and looked at what
was new. Called it quits around 9:30 and headed back
to the bus stop and to Pop Century, stopping to grab
a snack at Everything Pop before heading to bed.
Thoughts & Observations:
-
Decided to give EPCOT's version of Soarin' a try since there
was not much of a wait. The attraction itself is nearly identical
to Disney's California Adventure's version, only one edit to
the safety spiel (which was visible if you looked). The first
thing you have to notice is the re-done theming of the queue.
For EPCOT its a modern airport where as DCA is an old aircraft
hanger that pays tribute to flights pioneers. The EPCOT queue
music was not memorable to me, maybe it was not playing, or
because of the noise I did not notice, or maybe it was just
Soarin's music. Where as the queue soundtrack for DCA is great!
The overall look of it was just ok, it was definitely spacious,
and big feeling, but I like the detail and music of the DCA
one better. I found it interesting that as you line up in your
rows there are markers on the ground and the cast members ask
you to stand by one so they can visually see if there is space,
where as at DCA they actually have to count. The ride vehicles
themselves felt a little different but looked identical. The
film seemed crisper, but maybe that was the clean projection
surface or lack of dust on it yet.
-
Spent a couple hours on a fishing excursion that departed from
the Contemporary and took us around Bay Lake. I somehow managed
to catch 3 fish, not that bad. This was my first time going
out on Bay Lake, usually I only go to Crescent Lake/ World Showcase
Lagoon and also usually I just go on the 7am trip, where as
this time it was 1pm. It was nice to sit back and relax on the
boat in the afternoon. It got a bit warm when the sun was out,
but with the breeze and patchy clouds it was not bad. Overall
our group caught about 10 fish on our two hour tour. I was really
surprised to receive no annual passholder discount.
-
Went to see Cinderellabration at the Magic Kingdom. I was not
impressed with the show. It really did not engage me at all,
like some of the previous castle shows, like kids of the kingdom
used to. For starters I thought they played it way toooo loud.
So loud that when we were playing golf yesterday morning at
the Palm we were able to hear the show clear over there (and
we were on one of the holes away from the park). Standing in
front of the stage it was extremely loud for no apparent reason.
The gist of the show is its Cinderellas coronation day. The
storyline seemed nearly non-existant. Basicaly several other
Disney princesses arrive to see and then they all dance and
that is it.
-
Went to Downtown Disney to end the day. The place was packed.
I am guessing its because it was a Saturday night, but not sure,
we did not see anything else going on really. Just a lot of
guests everywhere. The World of Disney was crazy. We stopped
in the couple new stores since our last visit. The under $10
store was really a dump and nothing too interesting. The new
Goofy Candy Company store on the other hand was great.
