Walt Disney World Day 5 Report

October 3, 2004

Trip Log:

Started off with no wake up call again.. yeah!, still out to breakfast by 8am. Headed for the Magic Kingdom after breakfast then walked over to the Contemporary. Sent a couple of people out fishing and we headed back to the monorail and over to the Grand Floridian. Walked around then back on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Took the train out to Frontierland and the raft over to Tom Sawyer Island. Returned to the mainland and headed for Pecos Bills and a quick drink. Walked through the Diamond Horseshoe and out to Liberty Sqaure. After some shopping it was back down Main Street and the monorail to the Contemporary to regroup. After meeting up we strolled back to the Magic Kingdom bus stops and back to Pop Century. Grabbed a late lunch and relaxed a bit. Took the bus to EPCOT. Went to the Living Seas first then the Universe of Energy. Walked out to Canada and caught the film before dinner. Ate at Le Cellier and then wandered out of the park and back to the busses to call it an early night.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • We spent some time this morning at the Magic Kingdom Resorts, not much going on at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian when we stopped by.

  • Went out to Tom Sawyer Island to see how it was looking, it partially opened only a few weeks ago after a rehab. The Southern half of the Island was open, with the caves, Mill, landings, etc.. The other half with the Fort was still closed to guests.

  • Stopped in the Diamond Horseshoe, which is now just a character Meet and Greet area, what a disappointment. First they canceled the original show, then the Goofy show. Seems to us a show like Billy Hill would do great in there.

  • We called to confim our Monday tour and to verify the time we had to be there. The CM on the phone was extremely rude and we were shocked. They first informed us that our tour was two days ago and it was the Segway one not the Undiscovered Future World. We had to explain that we did that tour and now we are looking at our next one. After several minutes she came back on the phone and confirmed us and answered all our questions. We never remember a Disney CM on the phone being so unhelpful and just rude.

  • The CMs over at the Contemporary and on the Fishing Excustions more than made up for it. One member of our group left their sunglasses on the counter over at Fort Wilderness, of course they did not realize this until we were back in the Contemporary and eating lunch. We walked down to the Marina and the CMs there were friendly and found the number and got us connected to the CMs at the fishing counter, where they located the glasses and said they would send them over. A couple of minutes later a Harbor Patrol boat pulled up and handed us the glasses. This really was a great experience and the Disney CMs went out of their way to help with the situation.

  • Spent the afternoon at EPCOT visiting the pavilions we had not. The Living Seas and most of the downstairs blocked off by construction walls, our guess is the next round of Nemo installation is going on.. the pavilion was looking even more run down than before.. it really needs some work..

  • Ate dinner at Le Cellier which is our second favorite restaurant at WDW (right behind Yachtsman Steakhouse). The meal lived up to our expectations and we ate more than we really should have.
