Trip Log:
7:00am wake up call. Headed to the food court for
breakfast then a cab out to the Palm golf course. Played
our round and then took a cab back for a quick lunch
and showers. Then headed over to Downtown Disney via
bus. Shopped a bit, then took another bus to the Boardwalk.
Walked around and then over to the Beach Club, followed
by the Yacht club. Ate a great dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse
then took the boat over to MGM. Did a big circle of
the park, down Hollywood Blvd, out to New York street
and then down Mickey Ave followed by some shops on the
Blvd before heading back to the bus and to Pop Century
to call it a night.
Thoughts & Observations:
- We played the Palm this time around since we did not get out
on it last trip. Overall the course was in great shape, especially
considering all the rain and wind. The course was being prepared
for the upcoming PGA tour event in late October. The greans were
hard, the rough extremely thick, and the out of bounce was a swamp.
This all added up to an extremely tough round for all of us.
- The Shades of Green resort was just as impressive on the back
side that faces the Palm. We did not get down that way this time
and wanted to mention it.
- Downtown Disney seemed calm and quiet, guess its becuase we
were there on a weekday and early. I still do not understand why
you cannot cut through Pleasure Island to get to the West Side
we wanted to go there, but the bus stop at Pleasure Island called
our name.
- The same was true for the Boardwalk area. It was extremely
quiet.
- We ate dinner at Yactsman Steakhouse, our favorite, and the
meal did not disappoint. After the big meal we did not feel like
doing much so relaxed and took the long boat ride to the studios.
- Speaking of the Studios there seemed to be a lot of guests
roaming around and heading toward the exits when we arrived. Felt
like a fish going upstream.
- Just some regularly scheduled work going on around the park,
no real visible damage from the storms. The Stunt show area is
really coming along. The Osborne light installation seems to be
progressing nicely. We found it interesting to note the half wall
around the areas they were working on for this, so you could watch
if you wished to.
