Walt Disney World Day 7 Report

May 18, 2004

Trip Log:

Started the morning off with a 7am wakeup call. Then head up to the lounge for some breakfast before taking a cab out to the Magnolia Golf Course. Played our 18 holes then took a cab back to the Beach Club. Grabbed lunch at Beaches and Cream then headed for EPCOT. Strolled along the World Showcase, stopping at Italy, Germany, China (to watch the new film), Norway, and finished up with Mexico and its attraction. Then took some pictures and headed for Canada and its film, before heading back to the Beach Club. Took the bus over to the Magic Kingdom. Then road the Steam Train around to Frontierland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Splash and some road Big Thunder, then we strolled around and watched the Country Bears. Stopped for a snack of Funnel Cakes and a fresh Ice Cream Sandwich. Some went back to ride Splash while others went over to Buzz to grab Fastpasses. While waiting we took a spin on the TTA, then rejoined the group and road Buzz. After Buzz it was time for a quick snack at Cosmic Rays and watched Spectro Magic form there then headed down Main Street to catch Wishes before heading back to the Beach Club for the night.

Thoughts & Observations:

  • Started our day golfing at the Magnolia. The course was in great shape and playing extremely tough. They were getting ready for a qualifying tournament in a few days for the US Open. The greens were extremely fast and the rough really thick for us worse than average golfers it was a challenge.

  • The Palm course was down for renovation. Completely new greens were being installed and the rest of the course airated and some other TLC applied..

  • This was our first trip out since the new Clubhouse opened and the remodeled Shades of Green. All we have to say is both are incredible. Let's start with the Club House. It is now separate from the Resort and its own self contained building located closer to the first tee boxes than before. The Shades of Green Resort looks incredible from the outside and from the pictures it continues that look inside. Also an interesting note this is the only Disney Resort that has a parking structure for guests.

  • Went to see the Reflections of China film, and found it to be a great improvement from the Wonders of China film. This new circlevision is the newest film of its kind at Dinsey and really highlights modern China while paying tribute to its past. We found the visuals to be striking as usual in these films, but crystal clear since its a new film.

  • After viewing the China film the Canadian one leaves us lacking. We still enjoy it, but a touch up and some crisp new film would be great.

  • For the evening we ended up at the Magic Kingdom since it was one of the only nights Spectro Magic was being performed while we were there.

  • We were extremely disappointed by the number of unbussed tables at the Sleepy Hollow area. And in general lots of trash around for Disney Standards. It really surprised us, usual at WDW the standards are higher than that.

  • We were shocked by the steady stream of people out after Spectro and before Wishes. It was a solid stream of people for over 20 minutes. We had a spot picked out in the middle of street and just watched the masses go by.
