May 12, 2025 - Day 7: Tokyo Disneyland

Was up early, around 5am.  Spent some time working a bit then went to breakfast at 6:30 when the Sheraton club opened.   After breakfast back to the room to go through some more pictures and prepare a plan for the day.   Left the room around 9am.  Walked over to Bayside Station and caught a Resort Liner to Tokyo Disneyland.  No wait at security or park entry.   Strolled through World Bazaar and the central plaza on our way to Fantasyland.  Along the way picked up a 40th anniversary pass for Pooh’s Hunny Hunt.  Decided to take a cruise on it’s a small world with Groot.  Tried my luck at the Standby Pass for the two shows, failed on both.  Decided to visit Toontown.  Wandered around a bit and ended up taking a spin on CarToon Spin. Walked through Fantasyland and around to Tomorrowland.  Caught the last few seconds of the BDX Droids.  Then crossed the Central Plaza to Westernland and caught a performance by the Country Bears.  Saw the Disneyland Band heading into Fantasyland so I went to look for them and watched a performance near Cinderella Castle.  Hiked back to Tomorrow, no luck on the droids.  Picked up something to drink from the Vending machine and made my way over to the Waffle Store to meet the rest of my group.  They were still in line so I circled Adventureland then grabbed a quick bite from Refreshment Corner.  They picked up some popcorn as we walked through Adventureland and out to Westernland.  Found a spot for the 1:00pm Harmony in Color Parade.  After the parade stopped by the Enchanted Tiki Room.  Crossed back to Tomorrowland, still no droids.  I heard the Tokyo Disneyland Band in World Bazaar so went and enjoyed their set.  After the performance headed up the parade route to Fantasyland to use my 40th Anniversary Pass for Pooh’s Hunny Hunt.  Strolled through Fantasyland and went for a cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat.  Once ashore found a spot for Donald the Legend Parade.  Beauty and the Beast was posted at 60 minutes so we headed that way to give it a try.  Turned out to be 24min to the preshow then another 13 min to reach a tea cup.    Returned to Tomorrowland where I stopped for the Piano player on my way to Monsters Inc to use a 2nd 40th Anniversary Pass I picked up earlier.  We crossed back to Adventureland and spent some time in the New Orleans Square area as well as the other shops.  Walked over to Ikspairi for some dinner then took the resort line back. It took less than an hour out of the park.   Took some pictures of the Donald decorations near the entrance and in World Bazaar on my way into the park.  Took in a showing of Mickey’s Philharmagic then went for a ride on Pinocchio’s Daring Journey followed by another cruise on it's a small world with Groot.  About 10 minutes before showtime found a spot for Dreamlights in Westernland.  I crossed the parade right before the finale and watched it from near Dumbo then walked quickly through Fantasyland and waited for the lead group to pass by before crossing on my way to Beauty and the Beast.  Turned out to be a walk on where I did not have to stop except to wait for the pre-show door to open.   Had about 10 minutes to find a spot for Sky Full of Color Fireworks so walked quickly through Tomorrowland to the central plaza.   After the fireworks walked toward World Bazaar and found a spot for Reach for the Stars.   After the projection show joined the mass of people exiting the park.  Caught a Resort Liner back to Bayside station where I decided to walk back to the Sheraton and call it a night.

Thoughts & Observations
  • Today was a Disneyland day.  We had no real agenda besides enjoying the parks since we accomplished all the must-sees last week on my first day in the park.
  • We opted to arrive at the park after the initial crowd went in, and we showed up at 9:20 am and had no wait at all.
  • I took  a look at the 40th Anniversary options and was able to pick up Pooh’s Hunny Hunt.  It is nice to have the option of included FastPass again.  They seem to have a good ratio of these to standby and the impact on wait times did not seem that bad overall.
  • My luck for Standby Passes for the shows continued to be terrible.  Once again I failed for both shows I wanted to see.  I have lost track of how many times I have lost.  I think I am about 1 for the last 12 attempts to get into a show at Disneyland.  This is extremely frustrating, and now they do not even offer standby shows or options. Your choices are the lottery or pay, which is disappointing.
  • We roamed the park, hopping on a few attractions that had favorable wait times and exploring some areas we had not last visited, for example, Toontown and the Country Bears.
  • I did succeed in catching the Disneyland Band a few times, which was great, but I failed to see more than a couple of minutes of the BDX droids.
  • Today, there were three parades. Donald the Legend, Harmony in Color, and Electrical Parade Dreamlights.  I found spots for all three in Westernland with minimal waits.    It was a different experience seeing the Donald parade with a show stop and not in the round.
  • Stopped by the Enchanted Tiki Room with Stitch.   A cast member walked around and offered us a translation device. This was a newer version than the last time I used one here. It worked well, but I still find it distracting to look at the device and try to watch the show.
  • We noticed the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast dropped to 60 minutes in the late afternoon, and the return time for premier access was close.  Decided to give it a try, and it turned out to be a good decision with a 24-minute wait to reach the pre-show only.
  • After sunset, the wait times dropped around the park.   Most of Fantasyland was a near walk-on leading up to the start of Dreamlights.   I took advantage of this and visited a few attractions.
  • After Dreamlights, I had some time until the fireworks, so I squeezed in a visit to Beauty and the Beast, which was a walk-on thanks to the parade.
  • Sky Full of Colors went off on time. This was the second time they went off this trip (and turned out to be the last).   Tokyo fireworks are not that grand, but still a nice show with some lighting effects on the castle.  This evening, the smoke was not clearing, so the show was partially obstructed.
  • I thought about trying Reach for the Stars from a different location, but decided against it and watched from near the Partners statue again. This spot offers a nice, wide perspective and a minimal wait time. Plus, exiting after is a shorter walk.
