May 10, 2025 - Day 5: Tokyo Disney Resort Day

Today I slept in until 6am.  Went to the Sheraton Club for breakfast around 7am and then spent some time in the room catching up on a few things.  Around 11:00am we left the room and took the resort cruiser to Bayside Station and the Resort Liner to Tokyo DisneySea Station.   Spent some time looking at the park then walked over to the Hotel Mira Costa for a look around. Returned to the Resort Liner and went one stop the Gateway Station.   Stopped by the Miahama Train Station and bought a Suica card for tomorrow then continued on to Bon Voyage.  Did some shopping then spent some time in Ikspairi. Ate lunch at TGI Fridays before returning to the Resort Liner and taking it around to Bayside Station to end our circuit.  Once back at the hotel spent time in the Sheraton Club and the room.  I went over my game plan for tomorrow’s sightseeing day and relaxed.  Spent some time walking around the Sheraton before calling it a night.

Thoughts & Observations
  • We tend to plan the weekend days as sightseeing days or rest days in Tokyo to try and avoid the weekend crowds in the parks.  So we had penciled in today as our day to head downtown but the weather forecast all week showed rain and that it would be the worst weather day of the trip so we opted instead to push sightseeing to tomorrow (Sunday) and take today as a rest day and visit Ikspairi and the hotels for a while.   The forecast was fairly accurate with most of the day drizzly to rainy and not pleasant outside.
  • The Duffy and Friends’ Colorful Happiness Journey audio is rather loud. We could hear it clearly in our room. At first I thought it was from when it was passing through the lost River Delta since that was closest to us but it appeared to be from the main harbor portion that I heard.
  • Stopped by the Hotel MiraCosta to take a look around.  As usual it was a quick visit to look around the lobby and walk through the gift shop.
  • Picked up our Suica cards for tomorrow.  The process was quick and easy using the machine this time. The last few times we opted for the window and seemed to take longer to interact with a person vs the machine, this time.  If you are unfamiliar Suica Cards are one of the transit cards for the Tokyo Transit system, the other being Pasimo.    You pay a 500 yen deposit and add an initial balance on the card then you can use it for transit and other payments throughout Tokyo.   When you are done you can return the card and get your 500 yen deposit back and any balance minus a service fee. If you have no balance, you can get your 500 yen deposit back with no fee then.
  • Bon Voyage was pleasant to walk around today.   We had good timing and you could actually walk around easily without feeling crowded.  Our timing on past trips was less than ideal, and it always felt really busy.
  • Spent some time walking around Ikspairi.  We picked up a Welcome Card, which gives you discounts at a number of places. You need to show your passport to get one.   We did not have ours, but had copies with us. That created a bit of a hassle as the person working the counter was not sure they were allowed to accept that. At first, they kept pointing to the rule book, saying we needed a passport, then they called someone and eventually got an ok and gave us the cards. We used the 10% discount on our meal at TGI Fridays.
  • Has anyone eaten at the Outback in Ikspairi? How is it compared to stateside options?  I was thinking of eating there, but we ended up at Fridays instead, as that was a known quantity for us since we have eaten there a number of times over the years.
  • I ventured out to the Oasis area of the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay. This is where the kids' play area is: a mini golf course, a game arcade, and some photo studios.   I had not visited this area on my previous stays due to time and choosing to spend my time elsewhere.   Today, I spent a few minutes walking through the area to see it. There were quite a few offerings, and the people taking advantage of them seemed to be having fun.   Most of the services are fee-based, but Sheraton Club guests have some of them included. So if you are interested, be sure to check what is included and offered.
  • This evening, when we stopped by the Sheraton Club, it was full, and they asked us if we wanted to go to an alternative location on the ground floor. We decided to give it a try. The Galleria was much more quiet than the club and offered a similar assortment of food and beverages. The view was nowhere near as good, but to avoid the crowd, it was a nice alternative.

Day1 A Rainy Day at Tokyo Disney Resort

Today the forecast was for rain. We opted to spent the day visiting some hotels, shopping in Ikspairi and Bon Voyage and just relaxing at the Sheraton.
