Disneyland Resort | |
Disneyland is the original. It is Walt's park. If you are a true disneygeek, you have to make a pilgrimage to the theme park that started it all. Yes it is not as big as the others, or as secluded, or even as controlled, but it does have several of Walt's personal touches. The park itself is much more established and laid back. This may be attributed to the much higher percentage of "locals" at Disneyland than at the other Disney theme parks. People have grown up here in Southern California with the park and visit it frequently to see their favorite attractions and what's new. Disneyland is one of the Geeks favorite places to go and just hang out. I live relatively close to the park (100 miles only….) and go regularly (at least once a month). Disneyland is in the middle of a major expansion drive. They are working on making it into a vacation destination, not a couple night stop. The entire area is now called the Disneyland Resort and comprises of Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, Disneyland Hotel, Pixar Place Hotel, and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. Also Disney is in the early stages of even more expansion here in Anaheim. This is should be the section of disneygeek.com that changes the most frequently. Look for frequent pictorial updates of the park and the happenings at the entire Disneyland resort complex. We have divided the Disneyland Resort into five categories for you to explore:
Theme parks: the original Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Entertainment: At the Disneyland Resort you have a wide variety of entertainment to augment your theme park experiences... The Resorts: Disneyland will have three hotels to choose from. The original Disneyland Hotel, the newly renamed Pixar Place Hotel, and the "flagship" Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. As of 2011 Disney owns three hotels with 2,400 rooms, 50 DVC units, and 180,000 square feet of meeting room space. Downtown Disney: After the parks close you need something to do and this is to become Disney's west coast version of the successful Disney World night spot. Planning: Now that you are familiar with the parks, resorts, and entertainment you have to put it together to make a plan for your visit. Whether you are a tourist from afar, or just a local who has not visited in a while this section will hopefully help you out. Other: This section contains everything else, such as Disneyland at the holidays, Special Events etc...
