A look at the Fantasy Tower from the parking structure. Looks like all the glass is in and they are finishing up the painting. (More hotel shots later in this update)
This morning there was a customer appreciation sale for Annual Passholders, D23 and DVC members. They were limiting the number of guests in the store, and the line wrapped around outside.
  • Page Number: 2
Some tape markings on the ground to guide the line around.
A wider shot of the area.
No lines at the ticket booths (it was about 8am).
  • Page Number: 3
Strolled by DCA before heading into Disneyland
  • Page Number: 4
A large section of the backstage wall has been removed. This will be the main walkway for guests entering/exiting the park in a few weeks when they block off the regular walkways to create Buena Vista Street.
They have installed lights to brighten up the backstage pathway.
  • Page Number: 5
A look through the gates and you can see they are preparing the park for opening.
Notice anything missing here? The Golden Gate Bridge towers are gone this week (more shots when we head to DCA in a while).
  • Page Number: 6
No visible changes to the Emporium, the work is still going on.
Went for a spin on Mr. Toad since there was no real line yet..
  • Page Number: 7
  • Page Number: 8
Had a request from Chris for some shots of Jingles.
  • Page Number: 9
Not much visible progress over at the Matterhorn.
The gift shop carts are gone from Pixie Hollow, just the face painting one remains. Wonder if those are being repurposed for DCA?? Or just gone for a while.
  • Page Number: 10
A couple random shots as I hustled through the empty Haunted Mansion queue.
  • Page Number: 11
While waiting at the Toontown Depot I was curious why they did not run the electrical for the station bell some other way. The straight piece of conduit really does not go with the look of the water tower. I am sure it has been like this since they put the bells in a couple years ago but I never really looked at it/noticed it.
The last scene of the dinos is still blocked off.
  • Page Number: 12
Looking across the way. The Cars mountains block some more of the outside world, but not everything..
It just seemed odd not to see the Golden Gate. Also wish that the Cars range was just a bit higher to hide the Hilton.
  • Page Number: 13
Next stop DCA. Here you can see the current state of the bridge removal. The Towers are gone and all that remains is the lower portion. Guessing that will disappear this week if they keep on their current pace.
What remains of the old entrance.
  • Page Number: 14
Looks like they just cut off the towers.
    Looking back at the entrance.
  • Page Number: 15
Hard to see what is going on with the Carthay, but it appears more of the framing for the exterior was going up behind the tarps.
Some of the tarp is down and looks like the Condor Flats sign got a new coat of paint. Guess that means it is staying for a while.
  • Page Number: 16
You have one more week to shop in Engine Ears Toys.. its last day of operation is the 31st, next Sunday.
Without the bridge the area looks so open/big.
  • Page Number: 17
Only a month or so left for Greetings too.
  • Page Number: 18
  • Page Number: 19
The other side of the new entrance walkway.
  • Page Number: 20
A sign by the Grand CA (note when we got over by the attraction it appeared they were letting anyone ride. There was no line or wait.
Friday evening there was an incident on Screamin where a backback fell out of a train and caused an emergency stop. A train got stuck in the valley above Toy Story. Today they were manually winching the train out of the valley.
A closer look. Two workers exerting a lot of effort to inch (and that may be a generous description of the pace) the train up the hill.
  • Page Number: 21
They have a long way to go.
My Toy Story score (the red)
  • Page Number: 22
Still amazing that is is just barely half the highs and I managed to trigger alot of the bonus targets (guess I need to improve my speed a lot!).
The WoC fountains running for Disney Channel Rocks
A look at Cars Land from the Fun Wheel.
  • Page Number: 23

Details are starting to emerge on the center structure. Notice the workers for scale.
A closer look (oops out of focus a bit)
The entrance from the Wharf is inching along.
  • Page Number: 28
The exterior coating of Flos/Docs is going on.
  • Page Number: 29
Notice what appears to be another road/walkway that was put in, in the back going to the left, the asphalt.
More asphalt, this time behind the Cozy Cones
  • Page Number: 30
One worker checking out the rock work mesh along the track
Not a very big crowd for Disney Channel Rocks. Wonder how long this show will last. It always seems to have a light crowd.
  • Page Number: 31
A better shot of that new driveway, appears to be for backstage access.
A couple random shots of the Paradise Gardens area.
  • Page Number: 32
Still no visible progress on the electrical in this sitting area.
    The dance party rolling out.
  • Page Number: 33
A check in on the progress
The new wall/facade extension on the walkway still is white.
  • Page Number: 34
A closer look under the archway.
From the patio area of the Blue Sky Cellar
  • Page Number: 35
Looks like they are ready for the signs and neon almost on some of the facades.
  • Page Number: 36
A couple more of the Bugs gang have resurfaced.
Looks like she has always been there?
  • Page Number: 37

A couple random shots of the show, I was not in a good place to photograph it from.
  • Page Number: 40
    Heading out.
  • Page Number: 41
Noticed the corn dogs are off the menu since the Corn Dog Castle is open again.
  • Page Number: 42
Before leaving the park thought I would double back and check on the progress.
  • Page Number: 43
Made a quick trip through the toy store to grab a couple random shots since this would probably be my last chance.
  • Page Number: 44
  • Page Number: 45
Caught the 2:15pm College Band set.
  • Page Number: 46
A brief clip from the final of their Disney Movie Medley.
A couple shots from the 3:15pm Plaza Gardens set.
  • Page Number: 47
Still disappointed they only care about nerd and not geeks...
Hiked out to the Disneyland Hotel (since the Monorail wait was more than I wanted to deal with)
  • Page Number: 48
It has been a while. The scaffolding is down around most of the dining building (not sure what to call it).
The courtyard side of the Fantasy tower is almost done. Just some painting to finish up.
They have moved on to the far side to finish up.
  • Page Number: 49
The pool area is all cleared and they are slowly starting to rebuild.
  • Page Number: 50
  • Page Number: 51
A closer look at the columns on the restaurant building.
  • Page Number: 52
  • Page Number: 53
Looks like they redid the joints on the rails by Trader Sams.
    The geyser going off.
  • Page Number: 54
Strolled by the Paradise Pier Hotel (I was walking down the street to see if I could get a shot of the Screamin work from there but nothing was visible)
Did notice what appears to be a color/paint test on the far side of the building (this was nearest the pool, you can see the water slide on the left of the shot)
    A closer look
  • Page Number: 55
    One more look
    The Flag Retreat
Random Star Tours shot while I waited.
  • Page Number: 56

    The wait about 7:10pm
  • Page Number: 57
A couple shots from the College Bands 7:15 set
  • Page Number: 58
Back to DCA for another loop of the park. Only a few more weeks till this structure is coming down I think.
They had cleared the trains off of Screamin by the evening.
  • Page Number: 59
Still working on all the electrical connections in the Gardens.
  • Page Number: 60
  • Page Number: 61
Had a request asking if they still sold Pez in the parks. Found this display in Greetings from California. Not park specific, but Disney characters.
