Trip Log:

Started off this overcast afternoon walking over to the Disneyland Hotel from the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. Walked around the front of the Hotel, through the lobby, and then around the pool area checking out the new gardens and recently opened walkways. Made a circle of the ground and then strolled through Downtown Disney and into DCA. Walked by GRR and out to the Pier. Made my way around to the Fun Wheel for a spin then continued on through Paradise Gardens and back to the Wharf area. Took some Cars Land pictures from the Blue Sky Cellar area and made a quick pass through the Cellar to see if there was anything new and then continued on to the hub of the park to check out the Buena Vista Street Work. It was nearing show time so doubled back to the Bay Area to catch the Phineas and Ferb Holiday Edition of their dance party. After the show it was time to head to Disneyland. Strolled down Main Street USA and stopped by Buzz (had about a 10 minute wait). After Buzz went for a ride on the Monorail and then walked quickly over to Frontierland to catch the 4:30 Billy Hill show. Walked around the Big Thunder Trail, stopping at the Reindeer Roundup and then into Fantasyland. Made my way out to Small World Holiday for a ride (again about a 10 minute wait). Once back on land headed back to Fantasyland and the Village Haus for dinner. After dinner some went for a spin on the Carousel I wandered out to Small World to see the regular projection show then out to Main Street for some pictures before rejoining my group for a ride on the Tea Cups. After our spin made my way to Main Street to watch the 7:30 Wintertime Enchantment (snow). Then headed to Adventureland. Went for a ride on the Jungle Cruise since it was a walkk on and then continued on to New Orleans Square. Decided to take the train around to Main Street and walk through a couple shops before it was time to find a spot for Believe in Holiday Magic. After the show joined the masses heading for the exit, tram, car, and home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Moderate Walking Stats (meaning over 2.5mph): 12,424 steps, 112 minutes.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

Hello all,

Friday was a gloomy and cool day. The highs did not creep much above 60 and the sun tried to burn through a couple of times with no real success. The crowds around the parks were mild thanks to this.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • With three Disneyland visits in a week not too much too much new to report. I was able to spend some time walking the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel as they were putting the finishing touches on much of the new landscaping. The E-Ticket Pool was open for guests, but due to the weather there were no takers. Overall the hotel looks great. What a difference to walk around the new pathways with all the great landscaping, elevation changes, and features. I thought the E-Ticket tiles were a great touch for the new pool area but kind of surprised nothing else really was done to that side of the area. I also thought it was interesting that the back wall from the Dancing Waters Show survived the renovation. Wonder if something will be planned for that grass area in terms of future expansion.

  • First park of the day was DCA. As you saw in the pictures things continue to progress at a very quick rate with changes and details emerging at Cars Land on nearly a daily bases it seems. Spotted some more Christmas decorations this trip too, seems they are still rolling out this years offerings and glad to see DCA was not completely forgotten.

  • I watched the Phineas and Ferb Rockin Rollin Dance Party since it is now a Holiday Edition. The overall concept and execution are nearly identical to the original, except now it features some Christmas music blended into the mix. I enjoyed this version better, I think it is because I knew some of the music this time around. The children (and adults) that were participating seemed to all be having a great time, just like the original.

  • Over at Disneyland Santa and his Reindeer have returned to the ranch again for their annual round-up. The area was alive with lights, guests, and holiday cheer. I asked in the photos but wanted to ask again.. anyone know what happened to the entrance archway? It appears to have been cut, did it get damaged or was this a planned change?

  • The Small World Holiday projection show on the quarter hour is back and is great as usual. It appears to be the same as it has been, nothing jumped out at me as being new.

  • I caught the 7:30 Wintertime Enchantment (snow) event on Main Street. Still a nice little plus and a great way to see the lights. While watching several people commented on the new smells during the snow fall. It was more noticable where I was and worked nicely. It is a cinamon and gingerbread scent.

  • Went for an evening ride on the Jungle Cruise since I had some time and it was a walk on. As I mentioned in the photo update, the second (right hand side) African Elephant is back and looks great. The other one is currently backstage being worked on. Also anyone know when the deer were added on the opposite bank from the main african scene? I cannot remember noticing them before and curious how long I had been oblivious for. The skipper did throw in one joke that I could not remember too... anyone know why they call it the Temple of the Forbidden Eye?? Anyone?? Well because the temple of the forbidden me is not proper grammar. Hahahahaha!!!

  • Friday the Magic, the Memories, and You! premiered its holiday additions. I did not make my way back there as only one showing was scheduled at 9:30pm. Why don't they run it several times a night? Seems like they would want to get the most out of it and running it so late after the fireworks does not seem optimal to me.
