Trip Log:

Started off the relaxing day heading for DCA. Walked passed the vineyard on my way out to the Pier. Continued on passed Golden Dreams, and MM, stopping to grab some shots of Burger Invasion and the SS Rustworthy then pressed on by the Orange Stinger and out to the Sun Wheel. Went for a spin around the sun then hopped on Toy Story Midway Mania. Then headed back to the Parking structure to meet the Lazygeek and his son (he just turned one). We ended up strolling over to Downtown Disney, by passing the trams, and headed to White Water snacks for lunch. After lunch roamed around the Grand Californian a bit getting some DVC construction shots then we headed for Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and through the Castle to Fantasyland. Went for a spin on the Carousel then walked over to Tomorrowland. Grabbed Fastpasses for Buzz and queued up for Innoventions. Visited the house of the future and then strolled through Fantasyland and out to Toontown, turned around and wandered through the Big Thunder Trail, around the Rivers of America and then doubled back through Adventureland. Caught one of the Random Acts of Indy then walked over to DCA. Stopped by Fliks Fun Fair and then walked through the Farm area on our way out to the Pier. Circled the Pier and then GRR. Headed back to Disneyland and caught the College Bands 5pm set in front of the Castle, grabbed a corn dog for dinner and watched the College Band at Tomorrowland Terrace. After their set wandered out to Small World again and hopped on the train, rode around to NOS and then hiked back to Main Street to watch the last College Band set. Wandered down the street and decided to use my Fastpass for Buzz, after saving the galaxy caught Elvis at the Tomorrowland Terrace then Stompy Jones at Carnation Gardens before calling it an evening and heading home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 3:45:18
* 88 steps per minute average
* 2.43 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

Saturday was a very relaxing day at the Disneyland Resort. I roamed the park with the Lazygeek and his one year old and we thought the crowd seemed mild given the great weather. The lines were manageable for most attractions, even Toy Story was well under an hour the couple times we walked by. Everything else seemed a little on the light side for summer, but still a healthy crowd around the parks.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • The lazy days of summer have arrived around the resort with not much visible going on. Summer is slowly wrapping up and then the real action begins with the extreme make-over for DCA starting this September... I took the opportunity on Saturday to roam the park a bit and try and get some shots of the anticipated projects so I will have some before pictures. It is really easy to forget how empty the first hour or so of the parks days are if you are not rushing to an attraction. I walked the Pier area stopping at the SS Rustworthy and some other points along the way and had the area to my self.. it was a nice touch.

  • The trams on Saturday seemed to be running rather slowly. For example in the late morning I took a ride back to the garage and we waited a good five minutes at the tram stop before pulling out. The driver and other CM met in the middle of the tram and just talked. A couple other trams drove by.

  • Stopped by Innoventions again to try and explore in a less crowded environment and to see if more was working... They still are not operating at 100%. Only two loading pods appeared to be open and the line took almost 30 minutes to get through. Once inside it was fairly empty. Also some of the curtains seemed down on the outer ring of the first floor but we still walked by the empty sets on our way to the Front Door. On a second impression I walked away with the same as my first.. the house was not all that innovative or interesting... but the A/C was nice for a while...

  • Summer evenings are one of my favorite times at the park, with the mild weather and full entertainment offerings. Saturday did not disappoint with the College Band performing, Scot Bruce (Elvis) at Tomorrowland Terrace and Stompy Jones at Carnation. These three acts all seemed draw good size crowds that were having a great time!
