Trip Log:

Started off this picture perfect Southern California morning heading for the Grand Californian to get some pictures of the DVC work. After that entered DCA and had to wait a couple minutes for the rope drop. Walked past GRR, stopping to look a the new bridge and then continued on through the Bay Area and out to the Pier. Walked past MM, the Orange Stinger, and around the Sun Wheel. Went for my trip around the sun to grab some pictures of the Toy STory work then circled back and around to the side by Screamin. Next I headed back toward the parks entrance by way of the Wharf/farm and over to Disneyland. Entered a fairly busy Main Street USA and stopped by the Line Board to see how things looked before proceeding on into Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass of Buzz and hiked up the ramp and into Innoventions. Walked by Nemo and then out to Fantasyland to check out the work there. Decided to grab some lunch at the Corn Dog Wagon on Main Street, grabbed another Buzz Fastpass, then I headed back to Fantaslynad and I continued on around the Big Thunder trail, stopping for a few minutes at the ranch. Strolled along the Rivers of America and out to Critter Country. Made the loop and walked back through NOS. Stopped to listen to the Pirate band that was playing on the Island and then walked through Adventureland to check on the line for the Jungle Cruise. It was longer than my tolerance so walked around the Hub a bit, Plaza Gardens, then stopped by the Disneyana store before going back over to DCA. I walked down the backlot and made the loop past Tower and Monsters. Caught the end of the High School Musical show in the entrance plaza and then back to Disneyland. Hiked out to Toontown, made the loop then walked back through the hub and over to Frontierland. Circled by the Jungle Cruise again, grabbed another Buzz Fastpass and then decided to stroll through Downtown Disney to see what was going on. Spent some time at the ESPN Zone checking out the scores then walked back to the parking garage. Grabbed some clothes for later in the evening and took the tram back to Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and out to Fantasyland. The line for Casey Jr did not look too bad so hopped in it. After 15 minutes we moved maybe 15 feet so bailed out of that slow moving line and strolled through the Big Thunder trail and over to Frontierland. Went for a trip on the Mark Twain. Once back on dry land headed for Main Street to grab a snack and then find a spot to catch the Navy Band from Washington DC that was performing in front of the castle. After the show it was over to DCA and dinner at Taste Pilots Grill. After eating headed over to Bugsland and went for a spin on Fliks and a ride on the Chew Chew train. Then strolled through the Wharf and out to the Pier for some night shots. Decided to check out the wait for Monsters, which was still too long so headed back to Disneyland to use the Buzz Fastpasses. Along the way spotted Mickey on Main Street so stopped for pictures. After Buzz it was back to DCA to line up for the DEP (we found a great spot just a few minutes to parade time). After the parade it was back to the Mickey and Friends garage where I caught the end of the fireworks then headed home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 3:48:26
* 74 steps per minute average
* 2.11 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello everyone,

Saturday was a perfect Southern Californian day, perfect in other words. The crowds at the parks were mild, peaking during mid early/mid afternoon. Most wait times for the big attractions were around an hour, with Nemo being the constant exception but a couple others heading over the 60 minute mark occasionally too. DCA really seemed to thin out as the evening went on. We went back to catch the Electrical Parade and arrived as the parade was stepping off and managed to get a front row seat with no problem.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • I started off the morning taking pictures of the DVC work at the Grand Californian. As I was taking the pictures I wondered if they routinely clean the stairwells any more and if the bird mess in them is just that constant that it always looks that way for me or if its just been that long since that one has been cleaned. It appears it has not been cleaned in a while.

  • As I was roaming the park I noticed around 11am that the Disneyland Railroad was closed and the monorail was being backed out too. Both were operating after lunch. Was anyone around and know what was going on? Speaking of closures Screamin opened a bit late, Big Thunder and Matterhorn were also down part of the afternoon.

  • While wondering through Fantasyland we noticed the Casey Jr. line did not seem too long so we got in line. We soon realized only one train was running and after about four or maybe five cycles we moved about 10 feet only, so we gave up on that line. I do not remember that line moving so slowly (but I guess I usually do not get in it either if I see a line).

  • Early in the day I saw a sign up in front of the Castle that the US Navy Band from Washington DC was going to be performing later in the day. I made a point to come back to Main Street at 5pm to catch the show. I was pleased to see a sign up. I only wish that for groups like this and other special performances that they would make it into the guide map more often and even better yet the Disneyland website so people would know what is coming up. I would image some people would come to the park to see certain groups, I know it may be a tipping point for me. Also it would not cost much, especially the web version as most of the entertainment already makes it into the cast schedules, how hard is it to have an application to take what goes in there and push it to the web.

  • Last I have one more picture that I did not inlcude in my pictorial update but its of a new window/sign on Main Street. Its a window paying tribute to Bob Gurr (for those who don't know pretty much anything that moved at Disneyland in the early years he worked on, such as the Autopia, Monorails, etc...). I noticed the bicycle and thought it looked new but I did not walk down the alley to see then I saw the announcement about his window this week. Next update I will have better shots. The window is behind the bike.
