Trip Log:

Started off walking across the Pinochio parking lot and over to the Disneyland Hotel. Walked through the Lobby then circled the ground before heading toward Downtown Disney. Stopped by the Rain Forest Cafe gift shop then headed up to the monorail station. There was at least a two maybe three monorail wait (and since only one was running) I made a u-turn and walked through Downtown Disney. Decided to head to DCA first. I strolled down the backlot, circled by Tower and then over to Monsters Inc. There was no visible line so decided to go for a ride (there ended up only being about 10 people in front of me in line). After riding walked back toward the entrance and then took a left to the Farm area. Circled Bugsland and walked toward the Wharf. Stopped by the Bread Tour for a sample and then continued on to the Pier. Walked around past the Orange Stinger to the Sun Wheel. I was next to get on and they said there was a problem and closed the attraction. I waited around a bit but then gave up and doubled back and around to the other side of the Pier (due to the Toy Story work you have to walk all the way around to get to Screamin). Took some pictures there then walked through the Bay Area and past GRR. Saw there was no line at Taste Pilots so grabbed an early lunch (it was around 11:30). After lunch I doubled back to the Pier and the Sun Wheel was running again so hiked out there and went for a spin. After my trip around the sun it was back through the Bay Area and past GRR on my way to the Grand Californian. Stopped by to check out both construction projects then walked out to Downtown Disney. Next up Disneyland. I strolled down Main Street USA and checked out the line board. I saw there was a crowd at Plaza Gardens so I stopped by there for a minute then cut through Frontierland on my way to Adventureland. Walked through Adventureland and out to the Rivers of America. I saw the Mark Twain was in so headed that way, I was out of luck they were shutting down the attraction. The CM said there was a problem on the River so the both boats would be down for a while. I could not see anything and the Canoes and Tom Sawyer Island rafts kept running. I walked along the River and out to Critter Country. Then I circled back and hopped on the Train. I rode to Tomorrowland and then walked through Tomorrowland, past the Castle and into Fantasyland. It was starting to drizzle so I made a u-turn and headed for Frontierland. I ended up hanging out in the shops in Frontierland a bit waiting for the cell to pass. The Mark Twain pulled in and guests were allowed to board this time so I went for a trip around the Rivers of America. Once back at port I walked the Big Thunder trail and back to Fantasyland. It was almost 2:30 and time for the Billy Hill show so I headed back to Frontierland and caught the show. After the show the rain had started again so I headed off to Adventureland and caught the Tiki Room. After the show the rain had stopped so I strolled out to Toontown. Made the circle and then back past Its a Small World. The parade was just going by (due to the weather it was rolling along, no stops this afternoon). I was stuck so I walked back through Fantasyland and the Castle to get to the hub. After the parade pasted I headed for Tomorrowland. I stopped by Innoventions and cuaght the Asimo show. After the show headed back to Main Street. I decided to grab a hot dog then head down to Town Square for the Flag Retreat. Due to the weather it was just the recorded show, no Dapper Dans or Disneyland Band. The rain started to pick up a bit. After the retreat I called and checked on the weather and was told more rain was on the way so I decided to call it an early evening and head home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 2:57:45
* 78 steps per minute average
* 2.16 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello everyone,

Saturday was one of those on again off again type trips for me and I did not make the decision to go until the morning of when I looked outside and saw blue sky. The morning at the parks was great but then as noon time approached so did the clouds and by early afternoon we were having intermit and by 5pm it looked like the rain was here to stay for the day so I headed home. The crowds at both parks seemed a little heavier than I would have thought with the impending rain.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • For once I had a great draw in the parking lottery... I was in line to head up to the 2nd floor of the garage, which was backed up down the ramp and a CM standing by the barricades decided to open it up and I was the first car allowed to head up to the third floor. So I had a great spot right by the escalators.. the first time in a while.

  • I spent some time roaming around the Disneyland Hotel getting some pictures I needed/wanted for an upcoming request and I thought the hotel was quite busy, there seemed to be several conventions going on plus the normal weekend crowd.

  • Speaking of the hotel, while in the lobby, I picked up a flyer called Magical Times (its the information on resort amenities, etc..) and I learned a couple new things. First is the Resort Fee covers quite a few things, I have not followed the perks/inclusions so this may be old news to many, but not to me: Parking, Local calls (as defined by within 12 miles), Newspaper, and High Speed Internet. Also found it interesting the top item on the back was how to use FastPass, I guess many guests still need the extra help to understand the system.

  • I went for a spin on Monsters Inc since it was a walk on and the only noticeable change I saw were the load gates at the station. Nothing else stood out to me.

  • Out at the Pier something odd was going on. They shut down the Sun Wheel, I was in line and next to get on. Everything appeared ok then the CMs started to talk and the next thing I knew they were asking us to leave the queue. I hung around a bit and they cycled through and got everyone off then a group of CMs stood around talking. I walked around to the other side of the Pier to get pictures and Screamin was down too, but here you could see a couple maintenance guys working near the launch area. Both were back up and running after noon.

  • Speaking of odd closures I saw the Mark Twain pull in and off load so I went to get on and the CM said they were closed. Guests were asking if they could wait for the Columbia which was also running and the CM said no since the problem was with the River not with the boats. The Mark Twain pulled out empty, the Columbia pulled in and waited and the Mark Twain went all the way around and stopped waiting to come back in, where it sat for quite a while. All the other River traffic appeared normal, the rafts and canoes kept running. Eventually the Columbia loaded up and set sail and then the Mark Twain (not sure on the timing but I would guess within an hour, maybe closer to 30 minutes.

  • To dodge some rain I stopped by Innoventions and was able to catch the ASIMO show. Its been quite a while, I would say over a year since I last saw it. The robot looks the same but seem more nimble and they added a few new things to the routine, like it runs now. I thought I heard this is a new version of the robot, but I was unclear if it was a new robot or just new programming. As for the show itself I found the script to be a bit choppy. They changed the intro saying ASIMO was now out getting the mail which implies he has been around awhile, but the rest of the show refers to him as a new arrival. So it seemed inconsistent and struck me as odd.. Also I still think those are some of the most uncomfortable bleachers, I think they are made for people under 5 feet tall or something.. they just feel so cramped, but at least they are padded and I was out of the rain/drizzle.

  • The walls were also down around the Project Tomorrowland area, but you still were not allowed in, it was roped off. The only noticeable change I saw was the installation of the Power City game, the same one that EPCOT has running at the exit to Spaceship Earth. The rest of the area looked about the same if my memory is correct. There were no other signs of progress in Innoventions.
