Trip Log:

Started off this cool afternoon heading for California Adventure. Walked past Soarin and grabbed a Fastpass and continued on to the Pier. Took some pictures of the Toy Story work then went for a spin on the Sun Wheel. After my trip around the sun I finished my loop of the Pier and walked through the Wharf and Farm area on my way to Fliks Fun Fair. Circled that area and then headed back to the entrance plaza and down the Backlot. Stopped by the Animation building so see the display being set up for the Snow White Exhibit and then headed across the Esplanade to Disneyland. Spent some time on Main Street taking pictures of the TV sets that were being set up and the Holiday decorations as I worked my way to the Castle. Walked around the castle looking at the snow overlay and then headed to Frontierland. Hopped on the Mark Twain since it was in port. Once back from my trip on the Rivers of America walked through New Orleans Square and out to the Haunted Mansion to grab a Fastpass. I continued on to Critter Country before reversing course and walked back along the Rivers of a America and around the Big Thunder Trail to Fantasyland. Wandered out to Toontown and spent some time looking at the decorations there and then headed back and walked on Small World Holiday. After my cruise around the world I headed to Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz and then spent some time taking pictures of the TV sets and the Castle before working my way down the street for the Flag Retreat. After the retreat I went over to DCA to grab some dinner at Taste Pilots Grill and then headed to the Grand Californian. Took some pictures of the construction on the new wing and then walked out to Downtown Disney and hopped a tram back to the garage to get a heavier jacket. Once back at the parks I headed for DCA and wandered out to the Pier by way of Bugsland. Took some pictures and then headedback through GRR and used my Soarin Fastpass. Back to Disneyland I headed, I arrived on Main Street just as the parade was wrapping up its first stop, so I hopped on the train and rode out to NOS. I used my Fastpass for Haunted Mansion then hopped back on the train to Toontown. Took some Small World Holiday night shots (no projections running while I was there) and headed to Tomorrowland to use my Buzz Fastpass. After riding Buzz I took in the Instant Replay set at the Tomorrowland Terrace. After the set I spent some time roaming around Main Street before calling it quits for the night and heading back to the tram, car, and home...

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 2:39:04
* 75 steps per minute average
* 2.14 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello everyone,

Friday was a great day at the Disneyland Resort. The weather held, the crowds were mild, and the park is becoming the Merriest Place on Earth which is always a great time of year. Most attraction had waits well under an hour most of the day. Even Nemo had a posted 65 minute line, but when you went over there it looked closer to 45 minutes only.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • As you saw in the pictorial update the parks were partially decorated. It seemed weird to me that for a weekend they would be that way. I thought usually the decorating was done in sections over the course of the weekdays.. Also I thought it was weird how about half of Main Street was done and the parts not done were in the middle, wonder if this was for filming reasons or just because they did not get that section up. As the lights came on it was even more spotty with very few things lit up, but a few here and there. Everything was probably done for Saturday's taping and for sure it will all be done for this Friday's kickoff of the holidays.

  • This was my first visit to the park since the snow had been installed on the Castle and I thought that it looked great, and I think the pictures showed this. I think it should look even better lit up.

  • Small World Holiday was up and running, and luckily since it was early in the season, the lines were nonexistent too.. The ride seems about the same as last year, no major changes, inside or out that I could tell. There were no projections running Friday and the CM I asked did not know if they were returning this year or not. I hope they do as it was a nice little plus... Also for those have not heard Small World is going down for a major rehab (8-9 months) after its Holiday run. They are replacing the original 1960's flume, its hard to believe that the current flume is the same one that was used at the World's Fair in New York.. that seems like a great length of service. The attraction should return in time for next year's holiday run from what I have heard. So if you are at the park give it another whirl...

  • The Christmas parade sets were not overly disruptive and many people seemed interested in coming back Saturday for the taping. I thought it was great to see the sign advertising the event (I saw this last year too). Unfortunately I could not make it back to the park on Saturday. If anyone went and has pictures/comments to share drop me an email.

  • Not much to report from DCA.. the park felt about the same as always. It was interesting to overhear people talking about the planned changes, seems the Disney PR machine really got the word out on the planned investment to fix/expand the park. Many people had the details a bit goofed up but the underlying comment was nice to see them investing in fixing the park. One interesting note, last trip I commented on them not giving me the AP discount at Taste Pilots since I was not over $10, this time they did, so I guess it depends on the CM you get. I kind of wish they would tweak that and if you order an entree give you the discount.

  • Note: This year's Candlelight is on December 1st and 2nd. They will be selling dining packages through the Annual Passholders site starting at 10am on November 19th. There are three price categories $75, $100, and $125 depending on the restaurant.
