Trip Log:

Started off this overcast day heading for Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and into Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz then circled around the Tomorrowland Terrace and out to the Subs area. They were doing Cast Member Previews this afternoon (and into the evening). Watched a couple subs go by then circled the Matterhorn and headed for Fantasyland. Walked through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder Trail to the Rivers of America. Hopped on a raft to Tom Sawyer Island and explored the Island for a while. Once back on the main land walked through New Orleans Square and up the Gallery to see what was new. Then headed for Adventureland and back to Main Street. Stopped for a snack and then headed back to NOS to see the 3:25 Pirates show on the Island. Noticed they were clearing the Island and not allowing people out, so we did not make the show. We walked back through Frontierland and over to Tomorrowland. Went for a round trip ride on the Monorail to see what was going on then back to Frontierland to catch the 4:00pm Billy Hill. Left the show a bit early to get out to the Island just in time for the start of the 4:25 Pirate show. After the show caught a raft back to the main land and then headed for DCA. Grabbed a Fastpass for Soarin and then dinner at Taste Pilots Grill. After dinner walked around GRR and out to the Bay Area. Caught the Block Party Bash performance out there and then continued on along the parade route and over to the Sun Wheel. Went for a ride around the sun to take pictures of the Toy Story Mania work and then finished the loop of the Pier. Decided to walk by GRR again and see about using the Soarin fastpasses, but the return line was out the door so we continued on to the front of the park. Exited and went to World of Disney to do some shopping and then to the car to drop off our treasures and pick up jackets for the evening. Decided to hike over to Downtown Disney instead of taking the tram back and take the Monorail. The Cast Member previews of Nemo were in full swing this evening. Walked around Tomorrowland a bit and then around the Matterhorn and through the hub back to Tomorrowland to use our Fastpass for Buzz. After riding Buzz we walked around Tomorrowland a bit more then headed for Main Street. Walked through some shops the waited about 10 minutes for Remember to begin. After the show headed for the tram, car, and home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 3:49:15
* 93 steps per minute average
* 2.66 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

Friday was an overcast and quiet afternoon/evening day at the Disneyland Resort. There was nothing really on my agenda except to relax. The lines around the park seemed about average with most of the big attractions at Disneyland between 45-60 minutes and DCA between 15-30.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • The most interesting thing on the trip was to see the subs running again. They were doing Cast Member previews. During the early afternoon it appeared to be CMs only then in the evening it was CMs and their families. They had to have a pass to get in line for an assigned time and there were signs everywhere warning them that no recording/pictures were allowed. The line seemed to be moving fairly slowly due to only 4 subs in the afternoon and 5 in the evening in service. They had part of the queue set up and from the impact this small preview had on the traffic flow it looks like it will be a fairly busy and crowded Tomorrowland this summer.

  • I tried to get some night shots of the lagoon as you saw in the pictorial update and there were not many visible lights in the water... I am assuming the show lighting was on for the preview but there were no lights on in the lagoon itself.

  • Speaking of crowds the Island seemed to have a healthy crowd on it for most of the afternoon with the exception of around three o'clock when they cleared the Island for some reason. By four o'clock guests were being taken back out, so no idea what happened.

  • After a second visit to the Island my first impressions held up. The only really big negative I see is the viewing locations for the show. There is a very small area and getting a good view and being able to hear are a challenge. Wonder if they will ever announce show times... my guess is no unless the viewership really goes down.

  • I was surveyed as I got off the raft in NOS (I guess that's considered NOS, it may be Frontierland actually... since I think the Island is still technically part of Frontierland). Anyways the survey wanted to know how I would rate the Island, 1-10, and my favorite and least favorite parts. Also they wanted to know if I knew of the overlay and if so how did I hear about it. The rest of the questions were regular demographic ones. I rated the Pirates Lair a 6. I enjoyed the new interactive elements in cave the most and the least is the closure of the fort.

  • As I noted in the pictorial update the Gallery is operational again but the one room off to the right past the gift shop area is now about 1/2 the size it was before. Guess the other half is a store room or got handed over to Club 33 or something.. that's too bad. The display space now is really reduced without that good size room.
