Trip Log:

Started off this great afternoon heading for DCA. Walked into Condor Flats and grabbed a Soarin' Fastpass and continued on by GRR and through the Bay Area. Walked along the Lagoon and out by Screamin to the Toy Story Mania construction. Took a spin on the Sun Wheel then finished the loop heading by the Orange Stinger and back to the Bay Area. Cut through the Wharf and the Farm. Circled Bugsland and then headed over to the Backlot. Walked past Monsters and Tower, stopped in the Animation building, then back to the parks entrance. Next up Disneyland. Wandered down Main Street and past the line board. Walked through Frontierland and along the Rivers a bit taking pictures of the Island work and the bleacher installation for the Pirates Premiere next weekend. Pirates only had a 5 minute wait so went for a ride and then walked along the Rivers and out to Critter Country. Circled around and then walked back through NOS and into Adventureland. Cut through the hub and over to Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz and then hopped on the Monorail for a round trip journey. Once back in Tomorrowland walked around the Matterhorn and out to Toontown. Circled the residential area and then back to Fantasyland. Stopped to catch the end of the Princess Faire then walked through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder Trail. Walked down Main Street and caught the Flag Retreat. Then wandered back around the Castle and through Plaza Gardens into Frontierland. Spent some time walking around the River again and then watched Billy Hill. After the show headed back to Main Street and over to DCA. Used my Fastpass for Soarin and then headed over to the Grand Californian. Walked through the Hotel and around the grounds a bit then out to Downtown Disney and to the ESPN Zone to see the score of the Ducks game and the wait time for dinner. The score was tied 1 to 1 (they unfortunately lost 2-1), and the wait time was 50 minutes so we skipped that and headed back to the Grand Californian and ate dinner at Story Tellers Cafe which was only a 15 minu wait. After dinner walked through DCA (by GRR and through Condor Flats) on our way over to Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and through Adventureland. Over the Pirates bridge and out to Splash Mountain. Turned around and walked back through NOS and up to the Gallery to see what was new. Then back down through Adventureland and the hub and over to Tomorrowland. Circled around by Space Mountain, the VMK booth, Autopia, and the Monorail. Stopped to hear part of a song from the band at the Tomorrowland Terrace and then went for a spin on Buzz. After buzz waded through the masses and the round about at the hub and walked into Frontierland, cut over to Adventureland for some shopping then walked back to Main Street to find a spot for Remember. Had a few minutes to kill so stopped by the Disneyana shop. Remember was delayed and after about 10 minutes I gave up and headed for the tram. Of course as soon as I got to the tram the show started, so I watched from the tram then the garage before heading home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 4:06:14
* 103 steps per minute average
* 2.94 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

Friday was a great day at the Disneyland Resort. The weather was mild as were the crowds. The lines at most attractions were relatively short for the afternoon and great a bit in the evening but I never saw any over an hour.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • With the Premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean a little over a week away the park was in full preparation mode, as you saw in the pictorial updates. The set up appeared to be about the same as the previous two premieres. I thought the crowd control was handled pretty well and there were plenty of CMs around to keep things moving. Only glitch I saw was someone managed to get a stroller all the way to the load dock of Pirates and the CMs seemed a bit confused as to how that happened and what to do... strollers were supposed to be turned over to a CM as you entered the line and they were taken up and around to be waiting at the edge of NOS.

  • The sub lagoon looks to be nearly complete with very little visible progress since the last trip. The walls around the lagoon came down on Sunday night/Monday morning (we will have pictures next visit).

  • The Food and Wine Festival was again going on at DCA and the crowds appeared mild, but I did not spend a lot of time at the events so this is just a passing observation.

  • Its been a while since I rode Soarin and the seemed to be loading extremely slow.. also there seemed to be a new focus on the safety spiel with the CM making an announcement to watch and then standing and pointing at the screen.

  • We ate dinner at Storytellers Cafe. The food was average and so was the service. Again they goofed up the costs. Cheeseburgers cost $10.50 but they charged me $11.50 for a hamburger. Also they managed to char quite a bit of the burger (I asked for it well done but this was a bit extreme around the edges for $12 hamburger). Maybe it was just a bad night...

  • Noticed a new VMK Pirates Quest. There are more questions on this one and card on the questionnaire.

  • The band at the Tomorrowland Terrace had maybe a dozen people on the dance floor the part of the set we saw (but to be honest we could only take about a song before moving on). What ever happened to the bands of old that used to play there.

  • We stopped by the Gallery to see what was going on and two of the rooms were blocked off as they are preparing for the next round of inspired paintings.

  • Traffic around the hub was running smoother this evening but still had some issues. There were CMs every couple of feet from Tomorrowland over to the edge of the Castle but once you reached the other side near Plaza Gardens and Frontierlands entrance they were lacking control.
