Trip Log:

As I rode down the escalator of the Mickey and Friends garage I was greeted by a large number of guests waiting at the tram stop and no tram in sight. So I decided to walk over to Downtown Disney and ride the Monorail(which now is running its full route again) into the park. Once in the park walked down the steps and decided to take another spin on the monorail to sit by the other window so walked around the platform and up the new entrance ramp. Rode round trip and then walked through Tomorrowland, stopping to see what had changed in the Pizza Port and then for a Fastpass for Buzz on my way to the hub. Circled the hub stopping by the line board and the Castle before walking back past the Matterhorn and out to Small World. Took a peak at the Princess Faire then went out to Toontown. Walked through the area then headed back to Fantasyland. Walked by the the backside of the castle then out to the Big Thunder Ranch and on into Frontierland. Headed back toward the parade route because the guidemap listed an Aire Force Academy Band as performing along the route at 3:00pm and it was just about that time. I did find the Main Street Fire Engine with a small band that made a couple stops along the route and played a couple songs. After seeing them it was back to Frontierland and then into Adventureland. Walked up to the Disney Gallery next to see the new Inspired by Disneyland exhibit and then wandered through NOS and along the Rivers of America out to Critter Country. Roamed around Critter Country for a while and then headed back along the Rivers of a America and through Adventureland to Main Street. Stopped by Buzz to grab another Fastpass and then headed over to DCA. Block Party Bash was just rolling out as I entered the park. I walked through Condor Flats then around GRR, spotted Push along the walkway. I headed out to the Pier next to see the Toy Story Mania progress. Along the way I came upong Chip and Dale hanging out taking pictures (I had not seen any characters in this area in a long time). I walked around the Pier stopping to ride the Sun Wheel and take some pictures then I continued on to finish the loop. Next up a stroll through the Wharf area and then the farm as I headed for the exit and a quick trip back to the car to get a jacket as the sun was setting and it was getting cooler. Again there was a good size line at the tram stop so once again I walked over to the monorail and rode to Tomorrowland. Once in the park walked toward the hub and got stuck as the last couple of float from the parade rolled by then continued on to Plaza Gardens and into Frontierland. Walked around the Big Thunder Trail and stopped at the Village Haus for dinner. After dinner headed back to Frontierland and then around the Rivers of America. Went for a ride on the Haunted Mansion since there was no line then wandered back through NOS stopping at the Gallery and then through Adventureland and the hub. Used the Fastpasses on Buzz and had an ok score (but for some reason the picture did not show the scores right). After Buzz headed back to the West side of the park and hopped on the Jungle Cruise since there was no line then went to check out the Pirates wait (still too long) so turned around and headed back to Main Street. Checked out a couple shops and made a couple phone calls (to check on the score of the SC game and the Ducks) and then found a spot for Remember. After the show it was back to the tram and car to head home.

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 3:41:57
* 104 steps per minute average
* 2.97 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

Friday was a great day at the parks. The temperature crept into the mid eighties and it felt like Spring (even though we somehow skipped winter this year). The crowds in the parks were on the heavy side, I would call them average summer crowds for the most part. This weekend marks two anniversaries for Disneyland attractions. The first is a milestone for Pirates of the Caribbean which turned 40 on Sunday. The second is on Saturday Buzz turned 2.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • The Mickey and Friends trams seemed to be slow/inefficient all day long. When I arrived there were quite a few guests waiting to board and each time I went by the area there were either long waits or no trams around. For example after Remember, which is when I usually leave, you can get on a tram with usually a 1 or 2 tram wait which translates to about 5 minutes or so. Friday night I got on the 4th tram that showed up and it was over 20 minutes later than usual when I got back to my car. Not sure what the problem/hold up was but this was a longer delay than during the holidays even.

  • The operating hours of various dining places and carts within Disneyland still seems odd to me. For example on Friday (when the park was open till midnight and a good size spring break crowd was on hand) the Hungry Bear closed at 4:00pm. My best guess is since Splash Mountain is closed they did this, but at 4:00pm there were still quite a few people in the area and it seems like it would have made more sense to stay open till 6:00pm or so to hit some of the dinner rush. Also noticed several carts closed in Fantasyland in the early afternoon even though the area was packed with guests.

  • Speaking of the Hungry Bear I was a little surprised by the most recent cost savings measure. When you ask for a cup of ice you get a small dixie cup and to top it off one side says Disneyland and the other side says Walt Disney World and they both have the where dreams come true logo on them. I understand wanting to cut costs and all but this seems overkill and in the quantities they go through paper goods I cannot believe this is a substantial savings, but maybe it is.

  • Buzz Lightyear seems to be in need of a rehab. Its now two years old and I do not remember it being down for an length of time. As you ride through there are now several targets that do not work and props such as the large orange robot or the spinning saw that no longer work. And now a new trick the scores don't seem to be syncing right with the pictures. Friday I scored just over 300,00 and the lazygeek was about 200,000 but when we looked at our picture my score was listed as 30,000 and his even worse at 1,200. So not sure what happened but for some reason it did not like us.

  • I did catch the United States Air Force Academ Band - Solaris - who performed what I guess is a prepade even though it was half an hour before the parade. The stopped several places along the route and performed a couple songs and posed for pictures for a Disneyland Events photographer. I wish they would have had longer sets. They had another Air Force band, The Falconaires on Sunday and they performed in Town Square and during the Flag Retreat.

  • I was suprised with the large crowd and no Fantasmic that Remember was not more jammed on Main Street. The crowd seemed about average, from my viewpoint near the Disneyana store.
