Trip Log:

Started off this great afternoon heading for Disneyland. Wandered around Town Square and doam Main Street to Adventureland and out to NOS. Grabbed a Fastpass for Pirates then walked along the Rivers of America, through Frontierland, through the hub, around the Castle and out to Small World Holiday. Went for a ride since it was only a 5 minute wait or so. After riding walked around the Matterhorn and into Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz then headed back to Main Street and over to DCA. Grabbed a Fastpass for Soarin and then continued on around GRR and through the Bay Area stopping at the Wharf to grab some lunch (actually I ended up running back to the Backlot to grab a hot dog then met up and ate at the Wharf). After lunch headed out to the Pier and went for a trip around the Sun on the Sun Wheel. Then finished the loop and walked back to the entrance plaza and the Backlot. Road Monsters Inc and then stopped by the Animation Building for a brief visit and the gift shop there. Walked over to Condor Flats and used our Soarin Fastpasses and then headed for the Grand Californian. After roaming the lobby for a while exited the hotel and stopped at World of Disney on our way back to the park. We headed back to Disneyland and to Tomorrowland. I went through the Autopia queue to grab some pictures then we headed out to Toontown to see the decorations in the light of day. We then circled back through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder trail on our way to the Golden Horseshoe to catch Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. We then headed back to Main Street for the 4:30 Flag Retreat. After the retreat we headed back down Main Street and around the Hub (to grab some castle shots) then through Frontierland and over to NOS. We hopped on Pirates since the line was short. Then wandered out to Critter Country to see if anything was going on. It was not. We then walked back around the Big Thunder trail and stopped at the Reindeer Roundup. We continued on to Fantasyland and grabbed dinner at the Village Haus. After dinner it was time to line up for the Christmas parade so it was back to Main Street. We found a good spot near the Fire Station and watched from there. As the parade concluded we followed it down Main Street then verred off to Adventureland. The Tiki Room door was open so we went there to avoid the crowd a bit and relax. After the Tiki Room we headed for Haunted Mansion Holiday to use our Fastpasses (we did not have to, there was no line at all). After Haunted Mansion we hopped on the Train and road to Toontown where we disembarked to see Small World at night (the projector show was running this week). After that we headed for Tomorrowland and to use our Fastpasses for Buzz. After saving the Galaxy we wandered over to Frontierland by way of the hub and lined up for Fantasmic. The show was delayed and after 10 minutes we gave up and headed for Main Street and the Fireworks (Fantasmic did start about 5 minutes after we left). The Fireworks were delayed 15 minutes until Fantasmic concluded. After the show we headed for the tram and cars and home..

Other Interesting Stats:
* Actual Walking Time: 4:04:23
* 104 steps per minute average
* 2.96 mph average

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

Friday was one of those days that reminds me why I want to live here in Southern California. The temperatures were peaking in the upper 70s in mid November, I was at Disneyland, and the crowds were manageable. After last week's capacity crowd I was expecting the parks to be busy again this week, but was pleasantly surprised to find a "normal" crowd, actually I think a tad on the light side even. The lines for most of the major attractions were under 30 minutes the entire day. We walked on the Haunted Mansion in the evening (and could have in the afternoon but opted for a Fastpass instead, which we did not need). Small World Holiday was about 10 minutes when we waited and looked to be about half an hour later in the day only.

Notes:

  • As I walked onto Main Street I was pleased to see the garlands that stretched the street are back and looking better than ever. They always make for some great pictures and Main Street just does not feel like Christmas without them.

  • I really did not pay much attention to the prices last week while walking around the resort, but this week I noticed several were higher (ranging from the fifty cent increase in ice cream sandwiches, now $4.00 (which no one should let Disney know, but the same sandwich sells for $5.00 at the coliseum (I noticed that during the USC game on Saturday) to what I think was an increase at the McFry place.. now its $3.00 for fries and $2.90 for drinks there.

  • The new photo location out by Monsters Inc is finally finished, I cannot believe how long it took to build that... but it does look good.

  • As you saw in the pictorial update the Grand Californian is now decorated and their new tree looks great (you may or may not remember it was the large tree in the lobby that caught fire last Christmas). Also the permanent, new, carpeting is in the lobby and it looks great. The rest of the decorations looked about the same from what I can remember.

  • I still am a little surprised they do not add more Christmas (or holiday) music to the Billy Hill show. The guitar solo was holiday music and it was great, but that was it. Other than the decorations in the Golden Horseshoe and the single strand of Christmas lights on each Billy you would not know its the Holidays.

  • At the Flag Retreat on Friday the Dapper Dans did not perform, just the Disneyland band.

  • I also wish they would post the show times for the performances at the Reindeer Roundup. Seems every time I am out there I am just missing the show.. last trip I saw the finale number and this week I saw the performers heading backstage as I arrived.. guess timing is everything and mine was bad.

  • We caught the Christmas Fantasy parade from Main Street and it was good as always. It still grinds on my nerves to hear the same song over and over and over again. I wish they would have more variety in the parade. I guess there are two or three different musical elements but they are all too long.. I would like to hear something different for each unit/float... The new finale float looks great. Also I am fairly certain the Christmas tree with the dwarfs is new (but I have not gone back to look at last years pictures so maybe not..)

  • We lined up to watch Fantasmic and were a little disappointed to find no band on the Rivers of America.. they are always great to listen to while you wait for the show. A couple minutes till show time the lights dimmed and the princess medley started (the lights show lights flickered on) then everything stopped as someone must have stopped the show knowing it was in the wrong spot. We waited for about 10 minutes then bailed out.. the show started shortly after we left. Due to this late start the fireworks were delayed a little more than 15 minutes for the evening.
