Trip Log:

Started off the day heading for Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and around the hub to see what was going on. Walked by Plaza Gardens then into Frontierland. Took the Big Thunder Trail to Fantasyland and around Matterhorn to Tomorrowland. Jumped on the monorail for a look at the Sub Lagoon and the Backlot at DCA. Once back on the ground grabbed a Fastpass for Space Mountain (only a 35 min standby line) and then took a spin on Buzz (only a 5 minute wait). Cut through Adventureland and out to New Orleans Square and to Critter Country. Walked back along the Rivers of America and went through Frontierland on the way back to Main Street. Caught a little of the Parde of Dreams and then over to DCA. Walked down the Backlot, and into the Animation Building to see what is new. Next up stopped by Soarin which was a walkon so went for a flight. Then went by the farm area and took in the bread tour. After the light, and I do mean light, only one small piece of bread today, snack walked out to the Pier. Saw Screamin was being tested to watched that for a while then back through the Bay Area and stopped by GRR to hear the Miner 49ers. The sun was starting to get lower in the sky so time to head to the car to grab some warmer clothes. Upon arriving back at the parks cut through DCA on our way to the Grand Californian for dinner at Storytellers. After dinner back through DCA, stopping again on the backlot. Then heading over to Disneyland. Walked down Main Street and out to Tomorrowland to grab fastpasses for Space Mountain, it ws down. So instead got fastpasses for Buzz the line was about half an hour but we did not want to wait. Walked over to Adventureland and then NOS. Up to the gallery to see what was new, and then went for a trip on Pirates. Jumped on the train (the lazygeek for some reason seems to summon the Ward Kimball, kind of weird) and road around to Tomorrowland to check Space Mountain, still down. Headed down Main Street and to the Opera house to catch the First 50 Magical Years.. It was time to ride Buzz, so back down Main Street, we went. Took another peak at Space Mountain, still down, so we went on Buzz.. did not do too well, the lazygeek beat me.. It was nearing 9pm so wandered out to Main Street to find a spot for Remember. After the show joined the masses and walked back to the trams and headed to the cars and home.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

The off season has arrived and the lazy days of Fall (I know the saying is Summer, but for Disneyland trips its fall) are here. The parks seemed about average for the off season. The early afternoon was pleasant with a healthy crowd arriving as the sun was setting. For most of the evening the lines around the parks were not bad at all. Space Mountain when it was open was only 30-40 minutes, Indy 20, Buzz under 20, etc.. with some timing and luck you could get on just about anything with little or no wait. It had been quite a while, six weeks, since our last Disneyland visit and it felt that way too.

Disneyland (and a couple DCA notes too):

  • The rehab walls have started to re-appear around the resort, not as bad as the last couple of years, but they are still there. Ranging from planter work, to painting, to the long term projects of the sub lagoon at Disneyland and the Hollywood Backlot over at DCA.

  • California Adventure had an even lighter than usual crowds it appeared. Soarin's queue was just barely outside the doors most of the night. GRR and Tower both appeared to be near walk ons too. Walking around it just felt dead as it has the past few visits, still not sure why though. One positive note was the testing of Screamin for you coaster buffs out there. They were cycling the Yellow train and taking notes each time through. Everything seemed to be working, but then again no clue what they were testing.

  • Ate dinner at Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian, a good meal as always, decent service, good food and no wait for a table even. For those of you looking for something a bit different this off season we would recommend giving Storytellers a try. We have always ordered off the menu and never had a complaint. others we know have tried the buffet and they were not impressed with it for the price. But their menu is very comparable to the rest of Downtown Disney and the quality/service seems a step above ESPN/Rain Forest lately.

  • Took two spins on Buzz throughout the evening since there was no real line. Still fun and a challenge every trip.. But the old saying of practice makes perfect is not exactly true.. first time through got over 250,000 second time through only 70,000.. Another Tomorrowland note, Space Mountain was down from around 6pm till near park closing from what we could tell in our couple of loops past to see what the lines were like. Someday we will get some shots of the queue and interior.

  • Only had to line up about 20 minutes before show time to get a decent spot for Remember. Main Street still seemed quite full, not jammed as it was the past few times, but full. One interesting note. The lights on the buildings along Main Street did not turn back on after the show, wonder what happened.
