Out of DCA and over to Disneyland. Caught the College band in front of the Castle. Then headed for the loop of the East side of the park, through Fantasyland and out to Tomorrowland before heading back to Main Street. Down to the Flag Retreat. Headed out to NOS, and decided it was dinner time. Over to White Water Snacks. Back to DCA and through GRR and out to the Pier. Around the Pier and to the Wharf for the Fenians 8:00pm set. Over to Disneyland for the last College Band performance of the season... Then out to NOS and back to Adventureland to ride Indy. Caught the second half of the fireworks from Main Street and then headed home.

For Comparisons to other trips or more park miles click here to visit our park Miles Section.

Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.

My Thoughts & Observations:

** After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

I got a late start on the Disneyland day (was down at El Toro driving cars and then headed up to the park arriving around 5pm.) The crowds at both parks were mild at best... DCA's big three (Screamin', Soarin', and GRR had lines over 45 minutes most of the visit. Over at Disneyland the lines were not tooo bad, Indy was only 37 minutes at 9:00. Some of our group got on the Matterhorn in under 45 minutes.

We have moved our trip rundowns and mileage reports to our Park Miles section.

Disneyland Items:

  • Friday was the last day for the college band. All their sets seemed to have a larger and louder crowd than usual. As with some of the other Disneyland entertainment options, I wish they publized it a bit more. I think more guests would show for the shows if they knew where/when they were. I know the "random" entertainment occurances are nice touches when you stroll the park, but some like the Flag Retreat would benefit from at least a listing in some public form.

  • Still cannot believe there is not a better way to do the traffic flow through adventureland after Fantasmic and before the Fireworks. We got off of Indy and wanted to head for Town Square to catch the fireworks and go home, well Fantasmic just let out (bad timing by us) and there were way too many people trying to figure out where to go at the same time and it was near gridlock. Maybe some additional "lanes" set up to move people around the area easier or something.

  • Not much else jumped out at me... one objective of the trip was to gather some shots of Tower from inside Disneyland. In the picture update I had two shots, one from the walkway near Matterhorn and one from Main Street. Next trip I will continue to search and see if any other areas have a view...

DCA Items:

  • Screamin' was down for a while in the evening... GRR appeared to up the whole time we were there, unlike the past few trips. There actually was a couple geysers going too, don't remember seeing them in quite a while.

  • It was nice to have the regular entrance loop back... the X-Games soundtrack was annoying to me...

  • Speaking of X-Games there is no real trace of them left except the Arcade... I do not know why they could not spurge for a new sign for the arcade that was not X-Games.. I think its kind of dumpy anyways but if your going to have it, it should be nice lookin'

  • The Wharf area was alive with activity during the 8:00pm set. Decent lines at Boudin and the other food/drink places (Lucky Fortune Cookie was still closed, as usual).

  • Past Road Trip performing and I still do not get why they are now a Surf band... it would really fit with the theme and even their pull car is a Woody.. oh well...

  • Tower of Terror really seems to be moving along (or at least the outside). I am still not too sure about the exterior. The lightening strike is starting to look better, but the overall appearance still does not strike me as much as the WDW version does. I guess the hill its on and the pink color really set the WDW version apart... we will see I am sure the DCA one still has work to be done...
