3/20/09 - My thoughts and observations from Fridays trip to the Disneyland Resort.

* After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Hello all,

Friday was a crowded spring day at the Disneyland Resort. At the parking garage toll booths they were passing out flyers warning of the large crowds. Luckily parking was much smoother today than last visit. Both parks had what I would call Summer crowds with several attractions having wait times in the hour range and the walkways feeling crowded.

Trip logs and mileage reports are in the Park Miles section.

Disneyland & DCA Thoughts and Observations:

  • Parking on Friday was much quicker than on Sunday. The line at the toll booths was only a handful or so long. There seemed to be some confusion at the escalator with a large group of people gathered at the top. I was so far back I could not see what was going on but I decided to use the stairs instead (especially since I wanted to get pictures of the signs at each level).

  • As you saw in the pictorial update things are moving along at Paradise Pier in DCA. The new sign is up and I think it fits in, it looks as if its been there all along. Curious if they are going to change the circle too. The concept art shows it as a ball looking object. I think it looks ok as is, but should be interesting to watch.

  • Its impressive to me to watch the amount of infrastructure being installed in the bay. Seeing these large support pieces make the anticipation for the new show even greater... too bad there is still another year to go till opening.

  • I had not been to the Aladdin show in quite a while and wanted to stop by and see if there was anything noticeably different (last time I went was before the last rehab). I saw nothing besides some new lights around the theater. As I sat there I kept wondering how many more years this show would play. It seems like it is time for something new... but then on the other hand it was a full house for the performance I was at so if the crowds keep coming why change? I am sure that is the thought in some corners....

  • Looking at my dining receipts for the day I noticed that they all had an ad for Disneyland Annual Passes on the bottom. Seems to me their system could be a little better than that. If the receipt includes an Annual Pass discount it seems they should have some other ad on announcement on it.

  • Not much to report this trip from Disneyland, except there were quite a few people everywhere, including the stores. I overhead many people commenting on how crowded it was.

  • Since we grabbed dinner at the Plaza Inn I picked up the flyer for the birthday celebration with the current choices and pricing. Here is a quick summary for those that are interested:
    • My Disneyland Birthday Party at the Plaza Inn -> $15.99 + tax per person
    • Personal-Size Party Cakes (Pirate or Princess) -> $15.00 + tax
    • Pop Up Party Centerpiece -> $5.99 + tax
    • Goodie Bag Packs (4 goodie bags and pop up centerpiece) -> $21.99 + tax (each additional $4.99+tax)
    • Deluxe Goodie Bag Packs (2 deluxe goodie bags and pop up centerpiece) -> $21.99+tax (each additional $9.99 + tax)
