02/02/02 Groundhog's Day at the Resort...

** After you read this report you may want to check out the pictorial updates in our Disneyland Resort Pictorial Update section

Had the opportunity to spend a nice relaxing Saturday at the parks. The crowds were not that bad and the weather was better than its been in a while, still too cold for my tastes, but can't have it all.

Well I cannot think of too much exciting to talk about, so here is a quick run down of the trip.

Disneyland Items:

  • There are still alot of walls up around the park. Work was even going on Saturday evening in several of the locations.
  • There seemed to be a lot of people walking around the park, but the attraction lines were relatively light. Most were under 30 min most of the day. So I take this to mean that there were a lot of Annual Passholders in the park just roaming around.
  • One nice thing to see was the Columbia running throughout the night. I can not remember the last time I road at night. It was a great trip, except for the constant ringing of the bell.
  • Did not observe anything special for Groundhog's day. Just a pin...

DCA Items:

  • Over at DCA the crowd was pretty light, as usual. For example we walked right onto Soarin' at around 2pm... our timing was so good that we did have to stop walking till we reached the pre-boarding safety movie.
  • One thing that we did not see at DCA were characters going around the park. We saw a couple at Avalon Cove and the Goofy & Monster's shows, but that was it. Do not know if it was just our timing or a reduced offering.
  • Screamin' was down for a while in the afternoon. It was funny because on the way into the park we were talking about the past year at DCA and said how the attractions have been up a lot more recently. Then we get into DCA and Screamin' is down.

Other Items:

  • Went to ESPN Zone for an early Dinner (and to catch the end of the USC basketball game, which unfortunately was not fun because they blew it). Anyways there is a new menu, pretty much the same, and new prices. Higher of course. Its still a great place to watch a game.
