12/25/05 21.27 228,143 14:27 Started off this cool and foggy Christmas morning at 6:00am heading for the Disneyland Resort. Arrived a little after 7 (the LA freeways were kind to us). Headed for breakfast at McDs, oops it was closed for Christmas, so headed for the M&F Garage. It was not open yet, did not open until 7:30am. Waited in line then parked. Jumped on one of the first trams of the day and road to the entrance. Decided to try La Brea bakery for breakfast. Strike two. They were closed too. So went and got into line at for the park. At 8am they opened the gates and we wandered down Main Street. Grabbed some breakfast, finally, at the Main Street Bakery. After filling our stomachs it was off to Tomorrowland and Buzz. Walked through Tomorrowland and out to Small World. Wandered through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder Trail on our way to NOS. Road Haunted Mansion Holiday then headed back to the front of the park. Caught the re-dedication at 10am (still no clue why they do it at 10am instead of the afternoon when the real deadication was). Next up over to DCA. Grabbed a Fastpass for Soarin' then continued on to the Pier. Stopped by Ariels for a picture with Mickey & Goofy (with your Disney Visa you get a free 5x7 and I had not gotten mine yet). Continued on to the Sun Wheel, went for a spin, then fishined our loop of the Pier. Headed for the Backlot to see Monsters and the new area, looks great. Back to Condor Flats for our ride on Soarin'. Then lunchtime. Half went to the Wharf for soup bowls the others to Award Weirners for Hot Dogs. After lunch roamed through GRR then back to Disneyland for the rest of the day. Headed down Main Street, through Frontierland and out to the Ranch to see what was going on now that it was open, not much. Walked through Fantasyland with the goal of going to the monorail in mind. Got side tracked watching the Matterhorn climbing show. Grabbed Fastpasses for Buzz. Hopped the train over to NOS. Walked through the shops on our way to the Golden Horseshoe to catch the 3pm Billy Hill show. Afterwards came out and went on the last cruise of the Columbia for the day. Time to grab warm clothes (so a quick trip back to the car for me and the locker for the others). Ate dinner at Plaza Pavilion. Then back to Tomorrowland to use our Buzz Fastpasses. Wandered out to Small World to watch the projector show then out to Toontown to look at our picture in the mosiac there. Back through Fantasyland and around Big Thunder trail to the Reindeer Round-up. Then continued on to Fronteirland and NOS. Jumped on the train to Tomorrowland, was delayed as they fiddled with a new battery. Finally arrived in Tomorrowland in time to hear the last song and a half of the 80's All Stars set. Wandered out to Main Street, pushing through the parade crowd and into position for the fireworks. Stood there talking to some other guests until showtime. Watched the show then managed to get through the crowd to the backstage walkway and headed for the front of the park, then the trams, car, and home to end our great Christmas day!
12/16/05 13.19 17,452 9:00 Was greeted at the parking structure by an orange construction sign saying Happy Holidays, that was nice, then it flashed to Disneyland Full, not so good.. then rounding the corner the rest of the way the line of cars was nearly to the end of the garage. Got in line (probably close to 15-20 cars and every lane open. Finally got into the garage and directed to a space on Donald, not too bad. Headed for the trams. Got on the first tram that pulled up, still not bad. No real line at security. Decided to head for DCA first. Walked down the backlot and around a bit then back and through the farm area on my way to the Bay area. Not much to look at so wandered around GRR and into the Grand Californian. Looked through the lobby and then walked through Downtown Disney and out to the Disneyland hotel. Walked through the lobby and then out to the dancing waters area to see what if anything was going on there, nothing. Continued back by the Lost Bar and then to DD. Hopped on the monorail to Disneyland (no real wait again). Exited the monorail and walked through Tomorrowland, the hub, Adventureland, and NOS on my way to Haunted Mansion to grab a Fastpass. Hopped on the train to Toontown. Saw there was no line for Small World and went for a cruise around the world. Walked back through Fantasyland, around the Castle, then out to the Big Thunder Ranch area. Back through the hub and around the Matterhorn, jumped on the Monorail for a round-trip journey. Had 10 minutes until the Flag retreat, so bee-lined it from the monorail through the hub, Frontierland, around the Rivers of America and out to Haunted Mansion to grab another Fastpass. Picked up the pace and cut through Adventureland and down Main Street USA arriving just as the Star Spangled Banner started to play. Watched the Flag Retreat and hung out on Main Street until the Tree Lighting. Watched the show and then wandered around Main Street for a while before heading down to the Castle for some night shots. Caught the tale end of a performance at Carnation (I stopped since the soundtrack they were using was the Holiday Believe show, still miss that) and then continued on to the Ranch area. Grabbed some pictures and wandered around the trail and out to NOS for some more pictures. Back to Main Street USA and Corn Dogs for dinner. After dinner walked to Tomorrowland and grabbed Fastpasses for Buzz. Continued on around the Matterhorn and to the Small World Mall. Saw the line was not too bad, about 20 minutes, so went on Small World Holiday. Afterward headed back through Fantasyland, cut through the Castle and Frontierland then around the Rivers of America and out to Haunted Mansion to use our Fastpasses. Then doubled back and jumped on the train. Road to Tomorrowland. Turned in our Holiday VMK quest then Walked around a bit and then decided to head over to Adventureland. Went for a ride on the Jungle Cruise then back to Main Street to grab a spot for Remember. Watched the show then joined the mass of humanity leaving the park. Luckily they opened the backstage route along the West side again so cut through there saving a long slow walk down Main Street. Headed out to the trams and back to the cars to head home.
12/09/05 14.16 18,777 8:44 The afternoon started off on an interesting note.. as I road down the escalator at the garage I was greeted by a mob of people. Seems the tram stop was backed up two-three tram loads for some reason. Got on the 3rd tram to pull in and headed for the park. Walked through World of Disney to see if anything was new, then through security and into DCA. Walked down the backlot to get some Animation Building pictures then over to Disneyland. Wandered down Main Street and into Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz then headed for the monorail. Took the round trip to see what was new. Upone arriving back at the park headed to Small World Holiday, no line so went on. Walked up through Toontown to see the holiday decorations in the daylight since I missed that last trip. Then back through Fantasyland and around the Big Thunder trail to the Reindeer Roundup to grab Turkey pictures. Walked toward Frontierland and hopped on the Mark Twain. After circling the rivers walked along the River to NOS. Grabbed a Fastpass for Huanted Mansion Holiday. Walked through NOS and then Adventureland on my way to Main Street to do some shopping. Ended up going to World of Disney to buy the Big Fig of Big Al, but all they had was the display model. The friendly CM called Disneyana and had the last one put on a 15 minute hold for me. So it was back to Disneyland I went. Managed to get into the park fairly quickly. Headed for Disneyana and bought Big Al. Lugged him back to the car and grabbed warmer clothes. We headed back to the Resort, going to DCA first. Grabbed hot dogs at Award Weiners for dinner then continued our night time tour of the park by going down the backlot, out to Bugsland, and then the Bay area. Circled back through GRR and Condor Flats on our way to Disneyland. Headed down Main Street, through Frontierland and out to the Ranch for some night time shots. Then wandered through Fantasyland and over to Small World. Saw the projections and went to Toontown to see what was going on. Back by Small World and found a spot for the 7:45 Christmas Fantasy Parade. After the parade walked around Matterhorn and into Tomorrowland. Caught the last 30 seconds of the band at Club buzz and walked to Main Street. Walked in front of the Castle and out to Frontierland. Cut through the Fantasmic crowds and made a u-turn at the Haunted Mansion and headed into NOS. Walked around a bit then waded back through the crowds to Main Street by way of Adventureland. Wanted to head down the street for some shopping but traffic was gridlocked. Made it to the Penny Arcade and turned around, cutting through the Candy Store and Coke corner. They opened the backstage walkway on the West side of the street so went through there (have not been back there in years, not much has changed though). Popped out on Main Street and wakled around the the tree a bit before heading back up the street. Worked our way up to near Coke Corner and stood there waiting for the fireworks. After Remember beelined across the street and cut through the backstage area again to exit the park, what a great shortcut.. back to the trams and the cars to head home.
11/11/05 11.95 15,808 8 Was greeted at the parking garage by a sign saying Disneyland Full and a parking CM saying to that we would only be allowed into DCA.. so parked the car and headed for the parks, not knowing what to expect. Went to DCA first and wandered down the Backlot, back to the Sunshine Plaza and into Bugsland, the Bay Area, and part of the Pier before going through GRR and Condor Flats before leaving DCA. Spent only about an hour in the park. Headed over to Disneyland and walked right in. Headed down Main Street and verred right into Tomorrowland. Grabbed a Fastpass for Buzz then cut back through the Parade crowd and to the castle. Walked through Fantasyland and out to Small World Holiday. Figured this would be the shortest line for the day so got in line. Only took about 15 minutes and got to watch the parade while in line. After Small World walked by the Matterhorn and out to Tomorrowland. Took a round trip journey on the monorail to get some sub and backlot pictures then cut through the Tomorrowland, the hub and castle into Frontierland. Walked around the Big Thunder trail to the Big Thunder Ranch area to see the Reindeer Round-up. Continued on the trail to Fantasyland, stopping for a couple pictures en-route to see the lighting moment for Small World Holiday. The lights came on, the clock chimed, the projectors came on.. then it was back to Frontierland for me and a stop at the Golden Horseshoe, thought about dinner but the line was long so watched the show, then grabbed a corn dog afterwards (which by the way was the longest line I waited in all day, almost 30 minutes). Walked back out to Small World to get a couple night shots and then into Toontown to see its decorations. Doubled back through Fantasyland and the Big Thunder Ranch area to see it lite up. Headed along the Rivers of America and out to New Orleans Square to see their decorations before finishing up my loop of the park out in Critter Country. Walked back and hopped on the train for the quick trip over to Toontown depot. Grabbed a couple more Small World shots and then it was time to ride Buzz. Used my fastpass and set a new high score for myself (487,100 - yep you read that right.. but I sort of cheated the ride stopped for a minute or so and I just kept blasting away). After Buzz took a look on Main Street and it was already starting to jam up a full hour before the Fireworks, so went and found a spot. Waited and listened to the Christmas background music on Main Street for the hour, watched the show, experienced the snow, ythen headed with the masses back to the trams to head home.
10/21/05 13.16 17,414 8:11 Started off the cool fall afternoon heading for Disneyland. Roamed down Main Street, circling the hub and cutting through Frontierland and along the Rivers of America. The line was stationary for about 15 minutes or so then we started the long trek out to the Downtown Disney Monorail station and back to the security gates (only took about an hour). We were stopped for 15-20 minutes as they let the mass in the esplanade dwindle a bit before letting us into line. Finally made it into the park around 8:30am. 20 221.27 172 Totals
Note: These totals may be skewed because the pedometer is zero'd when we start and then left alone and read when we leave. So attractions, and other things may cause extra "steps" to be counted. The pedometer that we use basically measures up/down motion as a step, so if your standing in line and moving up and down it may be counting steps, etc.. so the total distances traveled and steps may be off.. so use these as rough distance comparisons between trips and they may not be accurate in terms of actual distance traveled.
