October Exhibitions, Programs, and Events SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS Water to Paper, Paint to Sky: The Art of Tyrus Wongfocuses on the life and work of Chinese-American artist Tyrus Wong—a celebrated painter, muralist, kite maker, lithographer, Hollywood sketch artist, calligrapher, ceramicist, and Disney Legend. Born in 1910, Wong is still a practicing artist today. The exhibition features more than 150 works including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, painted scarves, kites, and more—including paintings that served as the inspiration behind the look and feel of Walt Disney’s Bambi. Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole features some 40 works by goth-inspired lowbrow artist Garcia alongside ten Alice in Wonderland concept paintings by Disney artist Mary Blair from the museum’s collection. The exhibition celebrates not only Garcia and Blair’s artistry across decades and artistic styles, but also the power of art to draw us into magical worlds that spark engagement and inspiration.
