The Walt Disney Family Museum’s September 2011 Events Calendar
So Dear to My Heart is film-of-the-month

The Presidio, San Francisco (2011) September’s film is So Dear to My Heart, and it’s on the big screen at the Walt Disney Family Museum. The 1949 classic sets off a month of exclusive animation workshops and a special salute to Walt from five of his grandchildren on September 17. Get to know the Walt in Disney – on the big screen of our state-of-the-art digital theater- or in one of our many fun-filled classes!

A family film about a boy named Jeremiah who grows up on his Grandmother’s farm and trains his baby lamb, Danny, to compete in a county fair. Will Jeremiah and Danny win a prize at the fair? Come to The Walt Disney Family Museum’s screening of So Dear to My Heart to find who comes out a winner. Starring Bobby Driscoll and Burl Ives

Our Grandpa, Walt Disney

Join us for a special afternoon as 5 of Walt’s grandchildren, Walter, Joanna, Jenny, Tamara, and Chris talk about what it was like to grow up with Walt as their grandpa! The Miller kids will share their childhood stories and memories, including visiting the Disneyland apartment, spending Christmas with Walt and Lilly, and much more. This program will include family photos and video clips. Tickets will go on sale to members first, August 1 through August 10. On August 11, limited tickets will go on sale to the general public for $25.00.

Moving Pictures: Intro 2-D Hand-Drawn Animation Workshop
1:00–4:00pm Adults 18+ I Learning Center Media Studio
Do you like to draw? Would you like to learn to animate? This class will teach you the basic principles of traditional hand-drawn animation as well as how to continue this discipline at home.

Memories of Moving Pictures: Follow Up to 2-D Hand Drawn Animation
1:00–4:00pm I Learning Center Media Studio
This intermediate class is a follow-up course to our introductory workshop. This class focuses on techniques that will further your understanding of an animated scene. You will use the latest software to create your animated short!
