The Walt Disney Family Museum Fly off to Never Land and never grow up… FILM OF THE MONTH Peter Pan (1940) May you never grow up! Peter Pan and Tinker Bell whisk you away to Never Land where adventures with fairies and pirates abound. May you live a magical and mischievous life forever! MUSIC May 1 – StringCircle Quartet The StringCircle Quartet plays an unusual and exciting piece by composer George Onslow (1784-1853). Onslow’s work was admired by both Beethoven and Schubert. Jonathan Dimmock joins in for the Piano Quintet in E-flat major of Robert Schumann.
MAY LECTURES May 22 – Voice-over in Animation: Kathryn Beaumont, the voice of Wendy Discover what it was like to be the voice of Wendy in Peter Pan from Disney Legend Kathryn Beaumont! She will discuss her experiences as a voice-over artist, what it was like to work with Walt, and how animation and voice-acting combine to create all of our favorite animated films. PUBLIC PROGRAMMING FOR MAY DISNEY DISCOVERIES: Second Saturday of each month May 8 – Peter Pan Adventure Diary Imaginations and creativity will soar with our new Disney Discoveries! The second Saturday of each month, join us for family fun and activities in the Learning Center. The activities planned by our education staff will inspire the hidden artist in young visitors while learning about the life and work of Walt Disney. The Disney Discoveries! Activities are free with paid admission to the Museum. No ticket is needed for members—just show your membership card.
LOOK CLOSER: May 28, 29 +30 – Peter Pan: J.M. Barrie’s Book vs. Walt Disney’s Treatment Would you like to know more about one of the artifacts in the galleries? Our Look Closer series will give you that opportunity—staff will reveal little known facts—and behind the scenes information during the 30-minute gallery talk. The Look Closer series is free with paid admission or paid membership.
