Disneyland Resort Welcomes Rose Bowl Game-Bound Stanford and Michigan State Football Teams Thursday, Dec. 26

Mickey Mouse Greets Coaches and Players In Celebration of Upcoming 100th Rose Bowl Game

(December 26, 2013) The Michigan State Spartans, champions of the Big Ten Conference, and the Stanford Cardinal, champions of the Pac-12 Conference, made their first official appearances of the Rose Bowl Game week during a ceremony at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., on Thursday. ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 26, 2013 – Now that Stanford and Michigan State have won berths in the 100th Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO in Pasadena, what are they going to do next? They’re going to Disneyland!

The No. 5 BCS-ranked Stanford Cardinal, champions of the Pac-12 Conference, and the No. 4 BCS-ranked Michigan State Spartans, champions of the Big Ten Conference, will make their first official appearances of the Rose Bowl Game week at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, in a ceremony at the holiday-themed Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle at Disneyland Park.

Stanford head coach David Shaw, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio, and members of both teams are scheduled to appear in the Castle ceremony with Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier, Mickey Mouse and the Disneyland Band.  Among the Stanford players expected to appear are running back Tyler Gaffney, defensive end Ben Gardner, outside linebacker Trent Murphy, inside linebacker Shayne Skov and offensive guard David Yankey.  Featured Michigan State players in the ceremony will be offensive lineman Jack Allen, linebacker Kyler Elsworth, offensive tackle Fou Fonoti, defensive tackle Tyler Hoover and punter Mike Sadler.

Following the ceremony, the teams are scheduled to experience popular Disneyland attractions such as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, along with a visit to Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park to ride Radiator Springs Racers.

The 100th Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO, played in Pasadena on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, will mark the second consecutive and 14th appearance by the Cardinal, as well as its fourth consecutive appearance in a BCS bowl game.  The Spartans will be making their fifth appearance all-time in the Rose Bowl Game. The two teams have met five times previously, with the Spartans leading the series, 3-2.  This is the first Rose Bowl Game matchup between these two teams.
