Disneyland Resort Presents Three Kings Day Celebration, In New, Larger Location, Jan. 4-6, 2013

Three Kings Day and “A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue” Launch Year-Long Limited Time Magic at Disneyland Resort

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Dec. 28, 2012) – The Disneyland Resort launches Limited Time Magic with the celebration of Three Kings Day at Disneyland Park, Jan. 4-6, 2013, followed by “A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue” Jan. 10. These special events are the first of many magical experiences, both big and small, that will add an extra sprinkle of pixie dust for guests at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks, throughout 2013.

Following the success of its debut in 2012, Three Kings Day is expanded in 2013 with festivities in a new, larger location: Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree in Frontierland. Also in Frontierland, the fabled Golden Horseshoe Revue returns to Disneyland for a limited time, bringing back the corny jokes and enduring songs that were often enjoyed by Walt Disney himself.

“Limited Time Magic” will feature a variety of surprises – most lasting just one week, some longer and some disappearing after just one day. Information will be available Fridays on DisneyParksBlog.com, on Twitter using hashtag #LimitedTimeMagic, and on the LimitedTimeMagic.com web page.

Three Kings Day at Disneyland will feature entertainment, special food offerings and educational experiences that celebrate the richness of our nation’s culture. The larger venue includes a performance stage where guests will enjoy the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas and a variety of local folklorico ballet troupes and musical performers.

  • Disneyland Resort celebrates Three Kings Day, also known as Día de los Reyes Magos, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 4-6, 2013, with special décor, food and entertainment that showcases this Latin American holiday tradition.
  • Three Kings Day, as it is celebrated in many Latin American countries, is part of the Christmas story. It commemorates the day the three kings (the magi or “wise men”) followed the star to Bethlehem and presented their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
  • Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will appear in “Fiesta” costumes along with other characters: The Three Caballeros, Donald Duck, Jose Carioca and Panchito.
  • Bilingual activity hosts will join children in face-painting, coloring, crown decorating and other fun activities.
  • Special food will be available for the occasion, including Three Kings Day treats such as Rosca de Reyes (Kings bread), tamales, buñuelos, chimichangas and hot chocolate.
  • In addition to the Grammy-winning Mariachi Divas, entertainment highlights will include performances by a variety of local folklorico ballet troupes and musicians, including the award-winning youth Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando on Friday. Please see the daily entertainment schedule for exact times and any updates.
