Anaheim, Calif. -- Disney Vault 28, a new and contemporary boutique located in the heart of the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, is giving Disney guests what they want: a wider variety of hipper, trendier clothes and accessories in a chic environment. Disney Vault 28 has an urban yet stylish ambiance that reflects the fashion, art, and music scenes of the relaxed Southern Californian lifestyle. Themed as an abandoned bank that was converted into a boutique, Disney Vault 28 features an ever-changing mix of clothes and accessories for women and men as well as a select range of gifts and home accessory items with some items exclusive to this store. With its name giving a nod to “28,” in reference to 1928 when Mickey Mouse came to life, Disney Vault 28 opens the doors to a whole new shopping experience for Disneyland Resort guests. “This is an upscale boutique that reaches out to a new and different audience by offering funky, fashionable merchandise uniquely targeted to the fashion-savvy shopper who follows the current trends,” said Marianne Sharpe, vice president of retail operations and merchandise for Disneyland Resort. “Our research shows that many of our shoppers want trendier apparel with up-to-the-minute accessories and are looking for more unique products that aren’t available at other Disney retail locations.” Special lighting, trendy music and one-of-a-kind artwork from local artisans provide an eclectic environment that will fill the 1,000 sq. ft. store. While many Disneyland Resort guests shop for Resort-related souvenirs, Disney Vault 28 will offer a more distinctive and exclusive variety of product lines and will continually refresh the inventory, providing guests with an unexpected and different shopping experience with each visit.
About 50 percent of Disney Vault 28’s product is inspired by Disney characters and stories and the remaining merchandise features designers such as Chip & Pepper, Paige Denim, Bejeweled, Grail, Hart & Huntington, King Baby, Red Monkey and Mighty Fine. Quarterly, the boutique will host trunk shows and signings featuring local artists and designers. Staying true to its Disney roots, the boutique will continue with Disney’s legendary storytelling which will be reflected in a more fashion-forward manner through visual props such as heavy-draped curtains, vintage throw rugs, fixtures and chandeliers. “Our strategy is to constantly re-invent the space, using creative merchandising and visual displays that create a warm and welcoming environment,” said Sharpe.
