New Monthy Podcast Takes Listeners Behind-the-Magic of "The Happiest Place on Earth"

ANAHEIM, Calif. - - The Disneyland Resort in southern California has premiered the Official Disneyland Resort Podcast, an entertaining and informative monthly series featuring a “behind-the-magic” look at what’s new and exciting at “The Happiest Place on Earth.” This unique Internet-based show is free, available now and is accessible to a global audience at www.disneylandnews.com/podcasts/ . Listeners can also subscribe through the iTunes Podcast Directory to receive each show automatically for free.

A new episode of the Official Disneyland Resort Podcast, hosted by podcast pioneer Michael Geoghegan, debuts every month and is available online for three months. Each show features an engaging mix of original programming recorded live throughout the resort, including locations in Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure Park, the Downtown Disney district and the resort’s three landmark hotels – Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel – creating a “you are there” experience.”

Since the show premiered in October, 2005, as part of the ongoing Disneyland 50th anniversary celebration, listeners have gone “behind-the-magic” with an interview roster including the original Mouseketeers, famed film historian and reviewer Leonard Maltin, author Jason Surrell (“Pirates of the Caribbean: From the Magic Kingdoms to the Movies”), master Disney animator Andreas Dejas and Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty.

The January, 2005, episode (debuting the week of January 23) will take listeners to the celebrity-filled Hollywood-style premiere of the all-new attraction “Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!” The new attraction, based on the blockbuster Walt Disney Pictures presentation of the Pixar Animation Studios film, “Monsters, Inc.,” is located in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of Disney’s California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort.

“Our initial podcasts last May and July were so well received by listeners that we have decided to produce a monthly magazine-style show emanating from the Disneyland Resort,” states Duncan Wardle, vice president of press and publicity for the resort. “These podcasts are an entertaining and engaging way for people to participate at home in the many exciting events occurring during our ongoing 50th anniversary celebration.”

The innovative Disney podcast made its initial debut in May, 2005, during the launch of the “Happiest Celebration on Earth,” the 18-month global commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Disneyland, continuing throughout 2006. It was the first time that any Disney resort in the world utilized the new, dynamic and rapidly growing medium of podcasting.

The Official Disneyland Resort Podcast joins several official podcasts from The Walt Disney Company, including free programs from Disney Online, Radio Disney, ABC, ESPN and Walt Disney World Resort.
