Geek's Thoughts: The Diamond Edition of the Lion King was released in October 2011. Overall I thought this was a nice upgrade for those of us that already own several copies of the film. I went with the four disc set (DVD, Blu Ray, 3D BluRay, and Digital Copy). I watched the BluRay disc and thought the two Backstage Disney documentaries were great. The first was nearly 40 minutes called Pride of The Lion King and it talked about the teams that brought the film as well as the Broadway play to life. The second The Lion King: A Memoir -- Don Hahn included some great memories and video clips of the production of the film. The film looks incredible in HD!

The rest of the bonus material did not impress me that much. I have never been a big deleted scenes and song person and the blooper reel did not make me laugh. Found it interesting that the classic DVD extras were now streamed and not on a disc in the set. Wonder if this will be a new trend? I sort of liked having them locally, but the quality was fine on the streaming, assuming you have a network connection when you want to watch them. It is on my to-do list to watch the Second Screen option and I have not listened to the audio commentaries yet so I cannot comment on either.
