Geek's Thoughts: In addition to the film the short, “Piper”, is included and a large array of bonus material. The breadth of bonus material on this release is far above the norm for most first releases. Here is a quick list with number of features and approximate time to give an overview.

Exclusive Bonus 1 (~16 min)
Shorts 2 (8 minutes)
Beyond the Story 1 (3 minutes)
Behind the Scenes – 2 (13+ minutes)
Bonus Scenes – 10 (50+ minutes)
Casts & Crew – 2 (~7 minutes)
Music & More – 1 (~ 5 minutes)
– 7 (13+ minutes plus the full length audio commentary)
Promos & Trailers – 5 (10+ minutes)

I worked my way through all the material and my favorite featurette was “The Octopus That Nearly Broke Pixar”. This 9 minute piece looked at the challenges of Hank. Including his creation, design and animation. The piece showcased the complexity of animating such a character and I am sure it only showed the tip of the iceberg when it came to the challenges.

Creature Features was another interesting piece. It is a three minute piece showcasing the voice talent giving a fact or two about the character they play.

There were some odd features too. For example the Casual Carpool skit came across as awkward to me. It has Andrew Stanton driving Albert Brooks, Eugene Levy, Ty Burrell and Ed O’Neill to work.

In the Etc. section are four pieces that feature a look at the different environments of the film. Three are around 30 seconds but one is six minutes. It is “natural” sound and a look around. I thought it was interesting to see and be able to spend some time in the worlds that were created. I would have liked to have had the option of a narrative to talk about the design of the setting too and the 30 second ones seemed a little too short.

The “Hidden Secrets of Dory” featurette reveals some of the easter eggs hidden throughout the film.

If you are a fan of deleted sequences and alternative scenes you will really enjoy this release. There are 8 sequences totaling over an hour. The digital only bonus is an over 15 min piece Deleted Scene: Tank Gang featuring the Tang Gang from the original film. There is also a 20 minute sequence looking at the evolution of the opening of the film with a couple of different concepts that were explored.

If you enjoyed the film and find bonus material (especially deleted scenes) interesting you will not be disappointed with this release. There is a substantial selection of bonus features that cover a wide range of topics and have some depth to them too. Finding Dory will make a solid addition to your Digital movie collection.
