Geek's Thoughts: I have not looked at Disney reference/knowledge books in years. I have some of the old Wonderful World of Knowledge books so this was my first read through of a modern book. As the title suggests the focus here is Space. The book is not meant to be read from front to back but instead to be used to answer questions or learn about various topics. You can flip through (or use the table of contents or index to find the item you are looking for). Each page/section is set up as a series of question and answers such as How can we find a black hole if it is black and space is black, too? Also on every set of pages is a Disney or Pixar character with a comment. The last section of the book has some activities as well additional reference material including websites to visit and a glossary.

I really enjoyed reading flipping through this book and I would bet kids in the target range would really find the answers interesting. The presentation works well with some great photos and illustrations plus the characters.

This is a reprint of the 2007 hard cover book. It is targeted for reading level: Ages 9-12 according to Amazon, ages 6-9 according to a press release. Since this is the paperback version the price is under $10. Here is a quick listing of the chapters and characters:

  • The Universe and its Galaxies (Lilo and Stitch)
  • Exploration and Discovery (Toy Story)
