Geek's Thoughts: In Ride of a Lifetime Bob Iger shares recollections of his long career with ABC and Disney. Along the way imparting some insights and leadership philosophies. Plus a look behind the curtain at some of the biggest deals in the entertainment industry.

Bob Iger started at ABC in 1974 and worked his way through several jobs within the company and up to CEO of the Walt Disney Company in 2005. Along the way he gained experiences, friendships and a lot of interesting stories. In this book he shares some of these stories and key events in his personal story as well as the company's story. These include his early days at ABC Sports through the acquisition of ABC by Disney then his time working with Michael Eisner. Concluding with the long process to become CEO and how he has guided the company through the past decade and a half. Highlights include the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Fox.

I found this book to be an interesting read. He shares a unique perspective on these events and milestones and they come across as honest and straight forward. He talks about the wins as well as the tough choices along the way. Bob assembles his collective experiences and wisdom into a series of lessons that shaped his professional life.

If you are interested in gaining more insight into Disney's history in recent years this book is a valuable resource. If you are looking for some leadership advice you may find what he has to say helpful too.
