Geek's Thoughts: This is the 3rd Imagineering Field Guide in the series. The Magic Kingdom was first in 2005 followed by EPCOT in 2006. This book is written in the same style and format as those. The idea of this series is to provide a pocket reference guide that contains facts, figures , photos, stories, and concept art from the parks. If you enjoyed the first two books in the series you will find this one just as good.

 

I was really looking forward to this book as Animal Kingdom is my favorite WDW themepark. I really wanted to learn more about the park and this book did not disappoint. There were quite a few tidbits of information scattered throughout the book. I enjoyed reading more about the backstories of the various areas of the park. As with all the other field guides I think the format is a little to restrictive and would like to have seen a larger format so you can really look at the illustrations and artwork, the thumbnail size photos are a bit annoying.

One of the larger sections of this book is devoted to Discovery Island. I found this to be really interesting to learn more about the idea behind the island.
