This 192 page hard cover book by David Tutera features 10 weddings. There are also fashion tips by Kirstie Kelly, as well as gowns designed by her highlighted throughout. Each wedding has its own chapter in which there is an overview of the bridge/groom and a look at what went into planning/executing it. Each wedding is created around a different Disney princess and theme. The chapters end with an overview that highlights the fashion, invitation, color swatches/floral guide/specialty drink, menu, music, and Disney touches. Scattered throughout the book are insets that cover specific topics such as transportation, rental companies, disc jockies, tents, etc.. more of the nuts and bolts.

Of the 10 weddings, one takes place at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, one at the Disneyland Hotel, and a reception at the Grand Floridian. The rest have Disney touches/inspiration but are not on Disney property. I found it interesting how they wove Disney into many of them without being over the top.

I am not really the best demographic for this book (a single/never married/male) and I have absolutely nothing to compare it to on its merits as I have not read any other books on wedding planning. I can say from a disneygeek perspective that with a title of Disney's Fairytale Weddings I would have liked to have seen/read more about the Disney parks and seen more examples than the couple that are in the book. For example there was no mention of the Disney wedding pavilion. I see that the book is trying to show how Disney inspiration, planning, tips can be applied to your wedding and it is not a pure advertisement for what Disney offers

If anyone out there is planning (or has recently planned) a wedding and has a chance to read through this book I would like to hear your thoughts as you are really the target of the book.

The chapters & Disney touches are:

  • A Disney World Dream Wedding: Cinderella
  • An Asian Dream Wedding: Mulan
  • An Indian Dream Wedding: Aladdin
  • A Sparkle Dream Wedding: Peter Pan / Tinkerbell
  • A Beach Dream Wedding: The Little Mermaid
  • A Country Dream Wedding: Pocahontas
  • A Traditional Dream Wedding: Beauty and the Beast
  • A Garden Dream Wedding: Sleeping Beauty
  • A Modern Dream Wedding: The Princess and the Frog
  • A Vintage Hollywood Dream Wedding: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

One last note, like many of the newer Disney Edition books this one also features the D23 logo on it. Speaking of D23 if you would like to see some pictures of the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings display/exhibit space at the D23 Expo click here
