Geek's Thoughts: The full title is: Disney's California Adventure Detective: An Independent Guide to Exploring the Trivia, Secrets, and Magic of the Park Dedicated to California This book takes a look at DCA. Even though the park is just 7 years old it has already undergone quite a few tweaks/changes and the largest ones are yet to come. This book gives you a great flavor for the original version of the park and some of the updates over the years. In addition to DCA, the Grand Californian is also included, but no Downtown Disney..

 

The book is organized by section of the park. In each section it discusses each attraction, shop, restaurant. Scattered throughout the chapter are call out boxes that feature information on Hidden Mickeys, Treasures and Trivia, or Lessons to Learn. I really enjoyed reading the detailed look at gags and other puns in the parks. I found the appendixes extremely interesting. There is one on: Twilight Zone Television Props, Soarin Queue References, Hollywood Building, and Story Teller Tales. Also scattered throughout the book are some great photos showing the original area and then the update such as Super Star Limo to Monsters Inc.
