Geek's Thoughts: All of us Disney geeks know who Bob Gurr is... right? Bob is a Disney Legend that is most famous for his Disneyland work which included everything from Autopia Cars to the Monorail to Main Street vehicles and everything in between. He was able to work directly with Walt Disney as well as several others over the years including Stephen Spielberg, Steve Wynn, and Michael Jackson. Later in his career he worked on some non Disney projects you may be familiar with too. For example King Kong at Universal Studios Hollywood or the pirate show at Treasure Island in Las Vegas.

In this book Bob discusses the above projects plus many more as he talks about his life, experiences, and design process.

Having had the great fortune to hear Bob speak and participate in several panels over the years I was really looking forward to this book. He provides a little more depth to some of the stories he tells frequently and this provides me with a reference for them. As I read through the book I could picture him talking which is both good and bad. At points the narrative does double back and cover some ground two or three times, just as you would expect from someone talking to you. There are some interesting photos and illustrations scattered throughout the book but the narrative is the main focus of this book.

Note this book has an extremely small first run (2,000 copies only) so if this book is on your to buy list you may want to make sure it moves up quickly..
