Geek's Thoughts: Have you ever wondered what it takes to keep the parks clean and how it is organized/managed? If so this book gives you a look behind the curtain and sheds some light on how Walt's Magic Kingdom is kept clean. This book takes a look at what it is like to be part of the Disneyland custodial team.

It has aspects of a memoir, documentary and historical record. The authors, Ken Pellman & Lynn Barron, worked for Disneyland during a transformational time period of the 90s in the 2000s. Disneyland was growing from a single park into a resort and the internet was taking hold and changing the way we view everything.

I thought the authors provided a good mix of what us geeks would expect. They went into exhaustive detail about how the park is divided up and custodial coverage is done. They provide an insight into a typical day as well as share some of the more interesting experiences, cast members, guests and stories from over their years in the park.

I found this to be an enjoyable read and if you are curious about the operation of the park this gives a unique glimpse into it and should be on your reading list. The book checks in at over 400 pages but it did not feel long.
