Geek's Thoughts: I did not know what to expect when I sat down to read this book about unleashing your creative self by Don Hahn, I usually do not read the book jackets or descriptions ahead of time.. I want to experience the book. This was a little outside my regular comfort zone, but since Don Hahn has a heavy Disney background I thought it would be an interesting read. He ponders the many forms of inspiration, thought, and creativity. Scattered throughout are personal stories from his childhood, working on Disney films, and other life experiences that are used as examples. The book meanders through creativity as a concept. One of the central themes he comes back to several times is what happens between childhood and adults. As children people are free to be creative and experiment with different medium but as they age most become much more confined and reserved. They are much less likely to express themselves in a creative/artist outlet. He lays out the case that people need to explore and harness their creativity more and gives some advice on how to do this.

I enjoyed the book but it was no where near what I was expecting when I read the title. I guess I was expecting much longer narratives and less philosophical ponderings/wanderings. I found the stories about his work on the Disney films the most interesting (go figure) and would have really liked to have seen more and longer ones. Reading about his time working on Roger Rabbit and the animated films of Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King were highlights and I really wanted to hear more.
